I'm late again. ------------ Synopsis: A summery pattern with high pressure remaining to the east continuing through most of the upcoming week will allow for warm weather, with scattered afternoon showers possible this afternoon as weak mid-level P.V.A. develops over the area, combined with decent mid-level moisture. Highs today are expected to be a few degrees above climo, in the mid-90s F for the inland areas. Typical summertime weather will continue through mid-week with some instability allowing for low/mid-level clouds to develop in the afternoon, with highs in the mid-upper 90s F, and sfc. dew points being in the mid to upper 50s F. A frontal system and a sfc. low is likely to approach the region this weekend, bringing another round for possible showers/T-storms. Model guidance continues to show a weak cold front pushing through the area this weekend, though highs should still be in the upper 80s to lower 90s F, with lows being in the mid 60s F for the region.

Synopsis: A weak cold front pushed through the area earlier today, with high pressure ridging in from the north; onshore flow moderated temperatures today, with highs in the lower to mid-90s for the area. Temperatures will warm up Monday and Tuesday as high pressure drifts southeastwards before another cold front will push through the area Tuesday/Tuesday night, with surface high pressure building in behind the front mid to late next week—a warming trend is likely with temps in the lower 100s F possible next weekend.

Synopsis: Breezy conditions continue today with high pressure offshore, with weak troughing to the west; low level heights should support highs in the lower 100s F away from the coast. Overnight lows are expected to be in the mid-70s F range thanks to wind, in spite of relatively clear skies, aside from some high clouds. A surface low is expected to impact the area Sunday evening through Monday, with a warm front likely to develop ahead of this low and lift north across the area Sunday afternoon, bringing increasing low, and mid-level moisture, with isolated showers possible due to it coinciding with peak daytime heating. As this low moves closer overnight Sunday into Monday morning, an uptick in rain and thunderstorm probabilities can be expected across the region. An upper level trough is expected to dig south, and drag down a cold front across the region mid-week. Timing on this front varies across weather model guidance and will depend heavily on its interaction with the sfce low as it gets picked up by the front. Quieter weather will follow, with highs in the upper 80s to lower-mid 90s expected late week.

At what point does the NWS start using these "hot" pictos in their forecasts? I guess it kinda depends on the location? For the record I don't think it serves any purpose other than looking fancy (ditto for the "cold" one), but hey let's use all the pictos at hand.
