Fucking nuts! Sub-20°F lows in frost hollows in the valleys of central Italy at only 1K feet elevation are extraordinary for early April—no wonder even Raw-me saw frosts today & yesterday. Yesterday:

Another storm system should bring strong/severe T-storms to ral31's area tonight. Main limiting factor is how persistent the capping inversion over the area and to the south would be tonight

Looks like March was indeed well above average for sunshine in Saskatoon, just as I thought. We officially had 265.5 hours of sunshine, or 71.7% of possible, and 11 days with over 90% of possible sunshine.
In other news, yesterday evening's rainfall added up to only 2.9mm, so not very significant but still better than nothing.

Noticeably warmer overnight compared to the previous nights, low was 63 F (17.2 C) at both reporting stations overnight. Already up to 79 F (26.1 C) with a 60 F (15.6 C) dew point as of 11 am and we're headed up to 83 F (28.3 C) and sunny.
Switching into a warm pattern now and it's pretty obvious.

Very notable severe weather threat in the Deep South tomorrow. There's a possibility of a major tornado outbreak occurring in LA, MS, and AL tomorrow. Threat assessed in the Mobile, AL / Pensacola, FL area: Jackson, Mississippi area. Their threat is higher for tonight, they could be saved by lack of daytime heating but nighttime tornadoes are very dangerous. Pretty large swath of severe thunderstorm watches and warnings across the South already as well: Things could get quite hairy.

Storms over north Louisiana this evening look like big hail producers. Maybe a derecho forming later with areas to my east probably getting the brunt of it.

A couple of EF-1 tornadoes in central Louisiana confirmed from Wednesday evening; doesn't seem to be much damage. A supercell tracked across the area from east Texas into Mississippi. I got heavy rain from it but didn't see anything that looked severe. Quite a bit of lightning but didn't seem like many CTG strikes.

Maxed at just 8.5° C today (well below the 11° C forecast). Most of the day was stuck around 7° C, and largely cloudy with a few spits of rain. Snow levels for tomorrow apparently down to 900 m…so might even get a wet flurry or two here.

The pollen's coming out already, I can tell because my eyes are starting to get itchy. Normally this only happens towards late April/early May so we're definitely early this year. Unfortunately we've got several days of full blown winter weather coming up early next week, if it weren't for that I'd bet we'd be starting to see the leaves coming out pretty soon.

What's the earliest leaves you've seen? I've seen leaves in mid-April (usually around the 3rd week of the month) a few times. I don't recall ever seeing them earlier than that. Most years it's not until early May that they really start to come out.

"If you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes" happened today.
The morning started with snowfall with temperatures barely above freezing, and it was pretty windy at times. Snowfall continued at around 1200 hours, but turned to rain at around 1330. Then the sun came out, and late afternoon and early evening temps were around 6C, with 6.2C being the max today. Now after sunset it's rather calm, with wind speeds around 10 km/h.
