First 90 F of the year today! Was muggy overnight as well, dropped to 67 F (19.4 C) but it was a rain-cooled temp from a shower that went over the area, most of the night was spent in the mid 70s (~24 C) with dews in the low 70s (~22 C). Might get hotter still. Good pre-severe weather weather, hope it lives up.

At least two stations in Alaska reached -40 during the cold earlier this month. Bettles reached -39F/-39C which is a new monthly record (POR starts in 1944) Fairbanks reached -29F/-34C, close to the record low of -32. The mean min is -3 and the last time they saw -20 in April was in 2013. Snow depth is very deep at 38"/97cm, but they have highs in the 40s forecast so it will start melting now. The 40" depth they recorded earlier in the month was the deepest since 1993.
Here in Milwaukee, the grass is green, trees are budding, and spring is here to stay. No cold or snow in the forecast. April has been 11F above normal through the first 10 days.

^ I had a feeling somewhere in Alaska would hit -40 F from this cold snap. I saw plenty of -35 F to -38 F lows forecast and I knew somewhere had to overperform.
Very very notable cold snap!! State record is -50 F so still a ways off from that, but very impressive cold snap nonetheless. The -50 F was in Umiat FWIW which is much much colder in April than the majority of these locations, so in terms of deviation this might be an even more impressive cold snap. Also the fact it happened on April 10th and not at the very beginning of the month makes it even more notable. Averages increase very fast in April in the interior, April 10th is nearly 10 F warmer than April 1st in some locations.
Meanwhile, storming heavily here after a high of 92 F (33.3 C) today, two opposite worlds.

Big temperature drops as storms moved into the area, 88 F (31.1 C) to 66 F (18.9 C) in an hour at Ft. Lauderdale Executive. Hit 93 F (33.9 C) as well! Still nice in the 60s outside, gotta love cold air outflows from thunderstorms.

We had some of the heaviest snow I've seen this year yesterday afternoon - really big flakes which managed to leave a dusting. Also -3C this morning, can't remember when we last had an April morning that chilly.
UV index was forecast to be 5 today though so in the sun it feels pleasant, and the forecast shows more normal temperatures moving forward.

Just some sleet showers here yesterday which seems a bit less than yoo had, however we did get some good snow a week ago.

Got some additional rain overnight, final tally: 1.05" (27 mm) at HWO, 1.00" (25 mm) at FXE, 1.28" (33 mm) at FLL. Nothing amazing, or drought busting, but a nice rainfall regardless. Things already look noticeably greener outside.
Have another chance of storms today (30%), currently very dark overcast with a temp of 79 F (26.1 C) and a DP of 70 F (21.1 C).
