68 for a high today because of gay northeasterly winds and marine clouds. Unfortunately this looks to be the pattern until the middle/late part of next week when we shall return to the sun and 70s.

You know it's abnormally cold when the first week of May has the avg lowest temperatures I've ever seen in my life having lived in Buxton, the highest town in England for 15 years. Even there we never had a May so cold - and they avg. 2°C less than we do.

Beautiful spring day here today with a max of 8.5C... which was recorded yesterday at 21:01. Actual high today was 6.7C, rain in the afternoon, and now it's 2.3C and I think I just saw a few wet snowflakes.
Normal averaged high this week should be 13.3C.

If only
Now when I looked it up, Riga hasn't really been much warmer than Turku after the last mid-month warm spell. In highs that is. 9.6C avg hi in Riga, 8.3C in Turku. So pretty bad for both.

Finally, we have an actual rainy day in the forecast! They're showing periods of rain for Saturday during the day and overnight! I just hope this doesn't fizzle out and turn out to be like 2mm or something, we really need the moisture right now.

Last weekend had some unusual "dry heat". After a cool Saturday morning, a strong south / southwest breeze brought in warm and dry air. The airport reached 88F/31C, tying a daily record. This was a dry breeze, with dews around 40 mid-day (RH around 20%). It's rare to get dry and "hot" weather here but spring is the most likely time to see it. 88 with low humidity isn't quite hot, I know, but after steady 50s it feels like it. The first 90 degree highs in the state were reported the same day. La Crosse reached 91F/33C, and the hot spot was Boscobel at 94F/34C.
Because the warmth showed up after a cool morning, some huge diurnal ranges appeared. Milwaukee went from 41 to 88 (5 to 31C). Boscobel had a 39F/4C low that morning, giving a 55F range for the day. The hottest hourly reading there was 93 with a dew of 39 (15% RH) with 29 mph wind gusts and clear skies.
Some other spots in the Milwuakee metro area had a 50F range, going from the 30s to the 80s. The highest has to be sandy bowl/frost hollow station Whitnall Park which went from 24 to 87. (61F range, from -4 to +31C) Nowhere else in the area was close to this so I wonder how real it is, but it's an insane stat if true. This is the same station that recorded 12 degree colder nights than the airport in February despite being less than 10 miles away, at a similar elevation. It's not totally impossible to happen since the airport does record warmer nights than most of the state and it's not always the coldest spot, but still very suspicious.
The breeze stayed overnight and into the next day, giving Milwaukee airport a low of 67 on Sunday and high of 87 that afternoon (19/31C). Very warm for this time of year. On Monday rain came and immediately dropped the temps back to the 50s. It was a nice two days while it lasted. The coming forecast is more of the same. Thursday: 52/41 Friday: 52/39 Saturday: 51/40 Sunday: 50/39 Monday: 52/39 Tuesday: 55/43. In Celsius every day is about 11/5, and steady below average.

Doesn’t surprise me if these are the hottest temps of the year, recorded during the end of the dry season.

Had a couple of light showers move through this afternoon, no accumulation though, only a trace was recorded.
No thunder to be heard either.
