Today is basically a copy and paste of yesterday's weather, yesterday was 83/75 and today had a morning low of 75 F (23.9 C) and we're headed up to 83 F (28.3 C) today with sunny skies and breezy conditions. We have an elevated fire risk for today due to lower dew points (dews forecast in the 50s today) and breezy conditions. Weather has been boring as fuck recently, and the forecast looks boring, hot, and dry as well. Not a good start to what's supposed to be the start to wet season. On a positive note, we have a 66 F (18.9 C) forecast low on Sunday night per TWC here, which is quite cool for the time of year and definitely one of the latest I've seen mid 60s down here. Wasn’t your forecast showing mid 90s for next week? Looks a fair bit cooler now. Yup. Now it's showing nothing higher than 91 F. LOL. Also, the 66 F got upgraded to 69 F now. So yes, as per fucking usual, the forecast got more boring.

Okay, that's just fucked. That's some Great Plains-esque temp variation in Ulaanbaatar

Overnight rain falls quite varied across the city, highest 74mm thus far reported. Damn, you guys got quite a good soaking! Edmonton too a few days back, I believe some parts of the city got 40+ mm in a recent storm. Regina just got 30mm over the past two days as well. Saskatoon, though? Absolutely fuck all. A light dusting of snow (not even enough to register as measurable precipitation at the airport station) and nothing more. Still at 15.2mm of precipitation for all of 2021 so far

5 min readings from my PWS compared with hourly readings from the airport. I think it's very safe to say my PWS isn't a botev PWS. In cloudy weather it consistently reads about 0.3'C lower than the airport. The low was 2.6'C last night vs 2.9'C at the airport. The uni station however had a low of 2.7'C. The altitude difference between my PWS and the airport is 30m. Standard lapse rate is about 0.6'C/100m which works out to about 0.2'C for a 30m difference. My PWS seems to read low DP values during sunny weather and higher DP's during wet weather. Unsure how much has to do with sensor inaccuracies and how much has to do with its immediate surroundings. Don't see much of a point of using its DP readings instead of the airport (except during those times that the airport dips below the general dp during clear nights, like at 2021-05-20 02:00) Also: note the exceptionally shitty high of 5.7'C/5.1'C today (AP/PWS).

Precipitation band following the gyre of the cyclone occurring over Buenos Aires. Very windy afternoon, rain accumulated since yesterday is already exceeding 70 mm. The low pressure system is expected to move towards the southeast, with the peak winds forecast to this evening. Some areas more in the west have already had gusts over 90 km/h. Finally an interesting event, for a change.

Damn, apparently we've only recorded 154h of sunshine so far this may with only 7 days left to go. The last May to record less than 240h of sunshine wss May 2015 with 168h, which also happens to be the all-time record.

Took a look of sunshine so far this May all over Sweden. Gothenburg only has 75h of sunshine so far!! Their record is 120h, which will be absolutely smashed. Almost no station has recorded more than 160h of sunshine, only Visby and Hoburg have managed to breach 200h. Svenska högarna which opened in 2007 and hasn't gone below 245h is sitting at 167h right now, and Nordkoster, which opened 2006 and hasn't gone below 215h is sitting at 129h!

May is going to be the month with the second least amount of sunshine so far this year in Gothenburg, after January. This is insane. February, March and April all recorded more sunshine than May will, and May is the second sunniest month of the year on average!

A bit late but Jakarta north coast station (Tanjung Priok) recorded 92mm of rain overnight 6 nights ago, the night of 17/18 May. Some areas in Jakarta were flooded. Very late in the season... This was just after a heatwave with highs up to 34.6°C and lows as warm as 28.2°C. The overnight rain dropped the temperature to 23.8°C the morning of the 18th. The morning low for the previous day was 28.2°C

A hot day in the interior northeast. In the low-mid 90's away from the coast.

Anti-interesting weather shield. Looks like it'll even drop into the 50s in southern Hendry County (dark green spot on the map).

Finally getting some real weather here after the non-stop easterly snoozefest we had the past week. We were significantly cooler than forecast this morning. It reached 62.2 F (16.8 C) at my PWS. If that corresponds with my nearest COOP station (it usually does within 1 F), it will be the latest temperature that low on record. No temperature below 63 F has ever been recorded this late in the season. Some spots further inland dropped in the mid 50s F. Okeechobee reached 55 F (12.8 C), Allapattah Flats 56 F (13.3 C), and St Lucie West FAWN 57 F (13.9 C).

This town in Dagestan broke Russia's national monthly record high yesterday; a bit of a foehn effect too.

Ohhh shit! IT'S HAPPENING, BOYS!!! Potentially more precipitation in the next two days than in the past six months combined! Now I just hope the basement suite I live in isn't prone to flooding during heavy rain
