We got 1.71" (43.4 mm) of rain yesterday from some strong thunderstorms. The sky got very dark as it was storming, and then the sun came out around sunset, and the sky was more orange than anything I'd ever seen. I'll have to post a few pics to the photos thread, because it was unreal.

It snowed in Toronto this morning! That's ridiculously late in the season for them, even here I don't think I've ever seen it snow this late.

Another freeze at the airport. -1.5'C. I haven't checked my pws yet but I can guarantee it wasn't a freeze. The Uni station still had a very cold low of 1.2'C

Doean't really happen in the actual city though. The airport is very susceptible to radiational cooling. The mean minimum at the airport is 0.6'C in June and the all-time record is -4.5'C. In June 2009 the airport recorded -3.6'C. That month the uni station did record -1.0'C, but it's very rare for it to go below 0'C in June.

The record low max for this date is 57 F/14 C set in 1984. Forecast high of only 51 F/11 C today. Tomorrow's record low max of 53 F/12 C is also in jeopardy.

So not the first May since 1983 to fail to reach 20Β°C thankfully. A repeat performance of today due for tomorrow and 31st.

Beautiful freaking day. Has yet to reach 10c, May 29th. Heaven after weeks of garbage.
Last time we had a cool day this late was June 2, 2015. So not unheard of.

Today shattered our record low Max. High was just 50 F. Feels more like thanksgiving than Memorial Day, lol. Sounds like my day this past Thursday. High was 48 F and that was at midnight going in; when I got out of work at 4:30 pm it was 39 F (4 C) with rain and a north wind. Fucking disgusting, and the coldest I've ever seen it at that time of the day this late in the year. Low was 26 F (-3 C) in Rhinelander, WI this morning. It's been one of those "seriously, get me out of this godforsaken state" kind of days.

"Record-breaking freeze in the southeast ( source: Weatherzone ) It has been the coldest May morning in more than half a century as widespread frost and sub-zero temperatures grip southeastern Australia. Melbourne shivered through its coldest May morning in 72 years on Sunday, reaching a frost-inducing 1.7Β°C. It was also its coldest morning in 3 years and coldest outside of winter since 1970. Records tumbled in Horsham as the mercury fell to a mind-numbing -4.3Β°C, its coldest May morning in 64 years of records. It was also the coldest May morning on record for Yarram (-3.3Β°C) and Kanagulk (-4.0Β°C), although these observation sites have only been around for 13 and 17 years respectively. Temperatures also plummeted outside of Victoria, with Adelaide having its equal coldest May morning in 15 years, dropping to 3.5Β°C. However, if only considering the current West Terrace site (that was offline from 1979 to 2016), it was the coldest May morning in 101 years. Adelaide Airport was even colder despite being near the coast, reaching 2.2Β°C, its coldest May morning in 36 years. Even locations a long distance away from the mainland felt the chill. Norfolk Island fell to a seemingly mild 12.5Β°C, but this was its coldest May morning in 42 years. Dozens of locations throughout Victoria, eastern parts of South Australia, and southern New South Wales, had their coldest May morning in at least 15 years, and falling between 6 and 12 degrees below average for this time of year. This big freeze was caused by a broad high pressure system that cleared skies and turned winds onshore. This pattern allows for the ground to cool rapidly overnight and brings this cold air to the coasts, where proximity to warmer waters often moderate overnight temperatures. With the high pressure lingering for a few days, temperatures not seen in May in decades will likely greet the end of autumn on Monday, and continuing through the early week."

Yesterday morning in Rhinelander, WI the low was 26 F (-3 C), which broke the date record low by a full four degrees. At least it got to 67 F (19 C) for a high under full sun the whole day. At my house the low and high were 37/66 (3/19) respectively; supposed to be the same but shifted up a few degrees today.

ilmc90 @josecanyousee97 Here're yesterday's highs/lows in the U.S.: ----------- Richmond even went from a 94Β°F high Friday to 56Β°F 1 PM temperatures the next day! Really variable for the time of the year. Well below average temps are forecast even down to NC; Raleigh is forecast a 62Β°F high today according to NWS!
