Looks like the old record low max was obliterated yesterday...only got up to 49 F/9 C. Now at 8:30AM...46 F/8 C with heavy rain. Again, sounds like my disgusting day this past Thursday. Yesterday morning in Rhinelander, WI the low was 26 F (-3 C), which broke the date record low by a full four degrees. At least it got to 67 F (19 C) for a high under full sun the whole day. At my house the low and high were 37/66 (3/19) respectively; supposed to be the same but shifted up a few degrees today. It's a crazy, record breaking event but we'll be back to summer this week. I'm seeing 80s in the forecast next weekend for both the Northeast and Great Lakes.

Benfxmth look at IL, NY, VT, NH, ME in particular: warmer at the north ends of those states than the south ends! For once I'm actually NORTH of the cold stuff! As is typical this time of year, most of Texas and Florida had excellent weather. Gotta feel sorry for the poor saps directly on the CA coast, though. Again, sounds like my disgusting day this past Thursday. Yesterday morning in Rhinelander, WI the low was 26 F (-3 C), which broke the date record low by a full four degrees. My forecast high per NWS is 80 F (27 C) on Thursday, and each day is warmer than the previous, so needless to say I'm pretty optimistic

ilmc90 @josecanyousee97 Here're yesterday's highs/lows in the U.S.: Impressive temps even into the South. Highs only in the 50s as far south as Arkansas, 60s in Oklahoma, Mississippi and Alabama.

Last three days' low at the airport vs pws 28th: -0.9 vs 3.0 29th: -1.5 vs 2.6 30th: -1.0 vs 2.7
I'd also placed another (calibrated) sensor, without a radiation shileld, under the dense canopy of a broadleaf tree in a different place 100m from where I live, and that one recorded a 2.9'C low on the 29th and a 2.9'C low last night on the 30th.

Yesterday obliterated records at LaGuardia. Max was 52, previous record was 58. Min was 48, which tied the previous record from 1946. Overall mean temp anomaly was -18f, largest of the year. POR since 1940. KNYC tied its record low max temp, with a 51, previously set all the way in 1884. Overall anomaly was also -18f. Slightly more impressive than the memorable cool blast of June 2, 2015 which had an anomaly of -16f.

Thursday and Friday had highs of 48F/9C. Two highs in the 40s this late is rare, but it's happened before, the most notable being June 1945. I saw a high in the 40s with drizzle on May 31, 2012 which is the latest I remember.
Short version: Tuesday and Wednesday morning had lows of 68 and 66 (20 and 19C), summer weather was here. But not for long. A cold front came on Wednesday night.
Thursday 48/41 (9/5C) with wind and rain, gross Friday 48/36 (9/2) with light wind, dry after noon, chilly but tolerable Saturday 61/36 (16/2), sunny all day, chilly but very nice
7-day plot with highs/lows added by me: [ source]
Thursday: 50F(10) at 11:55PM, daytime high 48 (9), 6pm was 43 (6) with 30 mph/50kph wind gusts and rain, very cold for late May, terrible weather really. The day was 48/41 (9/5) using a 7am reset, 50/43 (10/6) using midnight. 0.36"/9mm rain. Friday: The rain stopped around noon, afternoon high was 48 (9) again, but dry. Wind was lighter, 10-20 mph (16-32kph). The day was 48/36 (9/2) using 7am reset, 48/41 using a midnight reset. Saturday: Despite being cold it was a really nice sunny day, I don't think I saw a cloud all day. The morning low was a chilly 36 (2) but the afternoon high was 61 (16) with low humidity, dews in the 20s (minus single digits C) and light wind. This would be great weather in April. Using a 7am reset it was 61/36 (16/2), midnight also 61/36 (16/2) Sunday: Because of the low humidity and calm clear weather overnight, this was the coldest night with a freeze in a few stations. Last freeze is early May in these spots so it's about 3 weeks late. The morning low for me was another 36 (2). Another sunny, low humidity day is expected with a high around 70 (21).

Holy shit, Norway has actually been above average this May at my latitude. Trondheim Værnes has averaged 14.6/5.1 vs the 91-20 normal of 13.8/5.3. Meanwhile Umeå ap has average 11.7/1.5 vs a normal of 13.0/2.1

Today's one of those beautiful blue-dome high pressure days. The sky is the deepest, clearest blue I've seen in quite a while. Reminds me of summers in Vancouver.

7th day in a row in which it's snowing in Ushuaia. No rain in between, no temps above 1.5°C. Snow had a couple of interruptions, and the sun even came out for several hours one day, but it's been snowing most of the time. The town is buried in white.

Those 114°F highs recorded in Turkmenistan today are likely the hottest temperatures recorded above 40°N in spring.

Crunch41 at least you were cold those days too as opposed to stealing my warmth again, but I'm still a little bitter about how you got over a foot more snow than I did this past winter... Large diurnals today. Sveg in inland mid-Sweden recorded a 26.8/-0.3 One of those numbers is quite good; the other is "oh god why" level. I'd imagine the dew point remained very low too.

We're back to desert levels of dryness, 14% humidity this evening. Usually after our first good rainfall in May the dew points will get up stay higher but the drought's been so bad this year that I guess the 33mm we had last week just isn't enough to retain moisture.

ilmc90 @josecanyousee97 Well below average temps are forecast even down to NC; Raleigh is forecast a 62°F high today according to NWS! What's with the color scale on the left? Blue at 70, purple at 60. Those colors are usually reserved for much colder temperatures.

It looks like we broke another record today with a high of only 50 F/10 C. These past two days have been cold with pouring rain. Tomorrow's 68 F/20 C will feel like a heatwave after this weekend.

Spain is quite divided in last days. Hot in center, South and West, while it is cool with showers in the North. No scoarching heat in Barcelona. Just max 25C yesterday, sea water temp 18C... 19C. But compared to weather in Latvia this is great!
