Went up the Temescal Ridge and Canyon trails yesterday afternoon, note the mostly clear skies offshore. Temperature was in the mid to upper 50s F at the time.

The first buds are starting to come in! [ Nice, now I am curious if your progress is ahead of Winnipeg or not. I know those little bushes are usually the first to show leaves. I believe your snow melt was quite a bit later than Winnipeg this year so would be interesting if you bud earlier considering ground frost in later there?

The Californian South is a subtropical paradise confirmed Cool pics, love that area and the mediterranean vegetation in general. It looks surprisingly lush here though. Downtown LA has recorded just 6 inches of rain since November (the "wet" season), and none of that fell in February. 6 inches is below it's wet season average which is like 12. Why so lush in the last pics?
Is the "Californian South is a subtropical paradise" a play on "The Italian South is a subtropical paradise"? LA and SoCal are generally semiarid except in some foothill microclimates.

Not sure how it compared to Winnipeg, but March was several degrees above average here and a good amount of snow was already gone by the middle of the month.

The lush part of the hike is adjacent to the (seasonal) waterfall/stream. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hiked the Gabrielino Trail this afternoon, in the Angeles Nat'l Forest. Temperature was in the mid to upper 60s F at the time of making the following pictures. Didn't have the time to make pictures of Switzer Fall itself, but hiked about a mile and a half of the trail—overall an enjoyable hike though. Went there once more today (didn't have the time today to go elsewhere though), but this time went to the waterfall itself. Was kinda steep walking downwards for the last half of a mile.

The drought is awful. Look at this parched grass. Cool pics, love that area and the mediterranean vegetation in general. It looks surprisingly lush here though. Unsurprisingly this is the spitting image of the interior Nice county.

4 days ago. Some shrubs in the most UHI spots had started getting tiny leaves. Veeeery slight flowering of this forsythia surrounded by glass and walls. Bird cherries are starting to get some really large buds now. I like pine more than I used to. Absolutely astounding amounts of snow (hard to get a good sense of scale in the image) on this sports area. I biked all over town trying to find some snow cover. Didn't find anything until I got to the western half, and even then only in this place sheltered by the pine grove. Snowed some last night. This was early this morning. It melted away a few hours later.

With the recent minor snowfall the amount of dirt in the old snow has never been more apparent. Took this image from my balcony just now. Look at the difference between the old snow and the new snow that's laying in patches on top. The old snow has almost the same gradient of grey as the parking lot pavement.

Never posted these before. March 6th, I drove up to the Soapstone prairie for a couple mile hike. It’s about an hour north of here just south of the Wyoming border: Saw some pronghorn on the way in, too far to come out well in pics though: < Hike was mostly open through hilly sagebrush prairie. Could see some far off high peaks at the beginning Deer: Came up onto a plateau with mountain views Good examples of the terrain Bison on the way out: >

Decent sunset tonight. The start of the bushfire season gives us the colours at sunset.

It's wisteria season! Few pics from the local park. Leaf out is still hit and miss. You don't notice it much looking straight ahead: Folks enjoying the nice weather.

NYC is very far ahead of Southern Sweden this spring I think NYC could be a little early but can't be by much. More 2018 and 2020 were so late, normal feels early. Is southern Sweden late this year?
