I was reading the first few pages of this thread and found my nostradamus moment from November 2017: "I'm interested to see if Paine will be decent, he used to be kind of...more than serviceable; he can bat pretty well in domestic cricket and his keeping is good, a strange choice but it may work out." A rare very good take from me lol  This is in reference to Paine getting called up for the ashes in 2017. I recall him taking quite a bit of flak last year. For his performances and his captaincy. |

Ben Stokes now up to #3 in the test batting rankings. Not bad for a guy who can also send the ball down at 90mph at an average of 31.

Those stats are inflated by the 2006 disaster series, I think he averaged like 80 odd lol. Last time down under he took 17 at an average of 27. You can split his test career in two halves, for the first 300 wickets he was just a good bowler, for the 2nd 300 he had a much better average and was a brilliant bowler. |
