Here is a climate battle between Canada's southernmost city Windsor at 42 degrees latitude north and Australia's southernmost city Hobart at 42 degrees latitude south. They are at the same latitude and have similar populations. Which climate do you prefer? Windsor, ON, Canada or Hobart, TAS, Australia

As soon as I saw the 'C' word ( Canada ), I knew Hobart had the vote before even looking at the climate stats. I don't do cold myself, and Hobart is seriously on the wrong side of the heat/cold line for those of us from tropical Australia, in my case 12*S as opposed to Hobart's 42*S. Having said that, while having a poor rap from mainland Australia, Hobart can and does get some surprisingly hot summer days. I've worked there on a small job in Jan many years ago and we had a 38c day and I was burnt to a frazzle. Next day was about 17c, typical of the changeability of the weather in the Southern Ocean. Hobart, again despite what mainlanders think, is one of the dryer Capital Cities, with only about 20" annually. Mind you, a few drizzly cold days certainly makes one think a terrible climate by Aussie standards, but thats not actually the case.

Hobart easily. Windsor's better summers aren't enough to make up for the rest of the year.

Hobart in a landslide. Windsor is a subarctic shit heap.

Windsor. Hobart's subarctic crummers are shithouse, and there are bugger all storms, which is to be expected from cold oceanic dross. Yes, Windsor's winters are freezing, but Hobart's are no sunshine and puppies either. So give me the summers and storms please. Hobart really only has 2 seasons, "Winter" and "Slightly warmer winter".

Windsor - at least it's a proper climate with proper seasons.

Hobart. The only non-terrible Canadian climates are in BC.

Windsor - at least it's a proper climate with proper seasons. Waitβ¦really? I don't believe this. Given this choice I'm prepared to endure a bit more cold in winter for warmth and thunderstorms in summer. I've made similar decisions before such as when comparing London (UK) to Toronto.
