New monthly record high set downtown with 38.4 C reported at the metro site yesterday, breaking the previous record of 37.9 C (half a degree is a pretty significant margin in the context of usually very low variation). I think it could've broken 38 C again this afternoon but it clouded over so probably only got to around 37 C.

21.6'C low at Östergarnsholm on Gotland Island last night. I think that's the warmest night so far this year in Sweden. Interestingly enough yesterday's high was only 24'C there, so a very low diurnal.

Utsjoki Kevo recorded at least 33.5C today, which is the highest temperature recorded in Finnish Lapland in recent memory. Previous record was 33.3C since 1961. The long defunct station and hamlet at Inari Thule (Thule (/ˈθuːliː/[1] Greek: Θούλη, translit. Thoúlē; Latin: Thūlē) is the farthest north location mentioned in ancient Greek and Roman literature and cartography. Modern interpretations have included Orkney, Shetland, northern Scotland, the island of Saaremaa (Ösel) in Estonia, and the Norwegian island of Smøla.) recorded 34.7C in 1914, which remains as the Finnish and Swedish Lapland's highest ever recorded temp.
BTW in July 1914 Turku recorded at least 10 consecutive days above 30C, which ties the Finnish record. And even if you would claim faulty readings, the same 10 days were tied in June-July 1972 in... Inari Lapland.

Stereotypical weather today across the country. From super oceanic Basse-Bretagne to sultry inland PACA. Today's warmest high was 35.3°C @ Le Luc, while coldest high was 14.8°C @ Ouessant (15.2°C @ Camaret, just south of Brest if including only the main continent) in the current update between 8h to 17h. I'd rather much prefer to spend time in Bretagne around this time of the year.

The North-Swedish record is 36.9'C in Harads. I guess that doesn't count as lapland then at 66.1°N.

Sorry mates, haven’t been active over the last few days, was visiting family in Miami for the long weekend. Left LI (from LGA) on the evening of 2 July, just got back today. Missed out on an extremely crummery day Saturday, but Sunday and today were nice, dry, and cool. 84/67 today, really nice, sunny, perfect summer weather. Mid 90s next few days.
Miami recorded an 80 degree DP one of the nights which was interesting, but no rain at all, got lucky! Also a heat index of 112 with temp/dew at 94/79. Oppressive for most things but perfect beach/pool weather. It’s cliché, but dry heat like the 114 I experienced in Phoenix is more comfortable than the 94 and very humid.

High was 90 (32 c) today, that’s the 5th of the year. Dews were in the mid 60s, not overly humid but enough to be unpleasantly so.

It's not that I don't want you to get it; of course I'd love to see it happen. But in the past Angler always laughed at model wanking. Funny to see the change. Model wanking is a desperate measure when you're bored of the weather. I've done it myself, looking at shit like 240-300 hours out. I did it with last Saturday, which did end up being cold but not as cold as the models were saying. Paid career for AJ.

Yesterday we got 1.20" (30.5 mm) from Elsa's feeder bands, there was a tornado warning here in Miami-Dade County as well. w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KMIA.html. And 0.39" (10 mm) from a thunderstorm earlier this morning as well. Should get some effects today as well, with a 70% chance of showers and storms and breezy conditions.

I stand corrected then! Very impressive temp for so far north.
