I'm looking forward to it, shall it hold. Outrageous wind gusts at Wilson's Prom are a source of excitment for me. Hopefully no rich in sailboats in the Bass Strait. Makes Renmark, one of the windiest climates ever discovered by humanity, suddenly look sane.,

I went to the local theme park today. The humidity was terrible, with dewpoints of 73-75ยฐF (23-24ยฐC) the whole time. There was a little water park area, and I doused myself in water a couple times to cool off. But once I had dried off, it was miserable if there was no breeze. I noticed a definite loss of appetite and difficulty concentrating.

Average high of 30.2c so far this July in Seoul. Already 1.6c above average, and the next two weeks look like a scorcher

Brighton for example is forecast to reach 24C at 12pm with a north-easterly flow, but by 1pm it's forecast to be south-easterly, coming off the sea, with the temperature falling to 19C as a result. Wind direction changes a bit on Sunday so the SE will be hotter then.

^^ great pics of a good old fashioned SW Slopes snow dump ! We up in the deep north, continue our run of unseasonable warmth, running 1.2c above average mins and 1.6c above ave max temps for July. Very ordinary, the little bit of extra heat means a lot more water on the garden. No rain until the end of Sept/early Oct for us.

One little trip to the grocery store in the 7:00 AM hour and I am absolutely drenched in sweat. Miserable climate.

Both Leeds and York are forecast to be the hottest places in the UK today. It'd be a hotter day if the British Open were taking place in, say, Liverpool (26C), or even St Andrews, Scotland (27C). Instead, in what ought to be the warmest climate in the rotation (Sandwich, Kent - the only one in southern England) it'll stay around 22C maximum. Hotter in Sandwich tomorrow, though - 26C.

This is the setup that caused the flooding. A significant cutoff low tracked eastwards, lifting warm, moist air northwards with ridging to the north (aka. a Rex block).

Had a 77 F (25 C) overnight low last night, had a thunderstorm come through around 11 PM last night, but only dropped 0.01" (0.25 mm) at the airport, more here as it hit us directly. 84 F (28.9 C) with a 74 F (23.3 C) dew point as of 9 am here, heading up to 91 F (32.8 C) with a 50% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.

0.04โ (1 mm) fell late last night, making it thr 14th rain day this month.
Been pouring all morning with temps in the low 60s but of course no thunder today.
As of 11 AM, 1.75โ (44 mm) has fallen and the high has been 67 (19 c) at midnight.
This brings the current MTD to 6.14โ on 15 days. Already the 7th wettest July and the month is only a little over halfway done.

Yeah - not a common occurrence at all. Occasionally Scotland will be the warmest place on a few days in winter due to fohn winds, but during the summer it's virtually unheard of for anywhere in Scotland to be warmer than Kent. In other news, Northern Ireland broke its highest ever temp today, reaching 31.2C. The previous record high was only 30.8C! Reached 31C in the end here.

Trust some unheard of location in NI with a spastic name to have the highest max temp in the British Isles... SMH.

TBH, I am doubting that Badlywobblycocks's record will actually pass accuracy checks - it's way off any other actual official max temps in NI, by like 3 degrees. Yeah, nah. Like that 33ยฐC "record" in Scotland a couple of years ago that was written off because a running ice-cream van was parked next to the weather station.
