Flagstaff had their warmest average low on record for any month this July…but the average high was 1.2 f below average. Very odd stat.
Another shit fest day here, 0.43” (11 mm) of rain, overcast all day and temps only getting to 71 (22 c).

Very warm this morning here, 83 F (28.3 C) with a 77 F (25.0 C) dew point as of 6 am. If the temperature holds up (lowest hourly OBS is 82 F / 27.8 C overnight), it'll tie the yearly warmest low temp set back on June 20th.
Will be seasonably hot today with a high of 93 F (33.9 C) and a 70% chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. 77 F (25 C) dew points are predicted this afternoon, which comes out to a 107 F (41.7 C) heat index.

Back to Riga... yesterday has been dry with a high of 23.7C, but today it is almost autumnal: drizzle, overcast and not warmer than 19C so far.

Up to 47 days with no measurable precip recorded at Vancouver International Airport. Record is 58 days, set in 1951.
Record for consecutive days with precip <1mm is 75 days, also set in 1951. FWIW, we also had a 76-day streak back in 1896 with less than 10mm of precip falling during that period.

Mountains of California got some un-handsome cold rain. Really good for them, could help prevent a few forest fires. a station in Yosemite valley recorded an inch of rain in the last 3 days. Map is 3 day rain total from a few days ago, so from earlier in the week. I'll posted a week total map later Even Los Ángeles got 0.09” of rain this week, wettest July since 2015 there. Some metro LA areas got up to 0.25” Meanwhile... up north in Vancouver didn't record any rain at all during July.

-4.0C in Latnivaara last night. A very low temperature for the beginning of August. The Swedish all-time low in July is -5.0C for reference.

WeatherUnderground/TWC has cloudy tomorrow, NWS mostly sunny (for Montpelier, Vermont). wonder which will be right. Guessing TWC thinks clouds from a coastal storm will reach here

Had a rain-cooled low of 73 F (22.8 C) last night, which is the coolest temperature since July 12th (71 F / 21.7 C) which was also a rain-cooled temperature. Very hard at this time of year to drop below 75 F (23.9 C) with just radiational cooling conditions, so I'll take it anyway I can. Got 1.17" (30 mm) of rain from thunderstorms yesterday too.
It's 82 F (27.8 C) with a 76 F (24.4 C) dew point as of 8 am here, and we're headed up to 92 F (33.3 C) today with a 50% chance of thunderstorms.

Looks like July was officially the 3rd warmest July on record in Saskatoon and the 8th driest.
The warmest July was 1936 with a mean temperature of 22.0C and exactly the same average high as this year, 29.8C, but a warmer average low of 14.2C. Second warmest was 1947 with a mean of 21.8C, this one with an impressive average high of 30.7C and 20 days with highs above 30C, but an unremarkable average low of 12.9C.

Felt decent by early August standards today following a front. Dewpoint in the mid 60's this afternoon with high of 90F. Low tonight of 67F. Monday the high was just 80F due to cloud cover.
Back to temps in the mid 90's with humidity by the weekend with 30-40% chance t-storms.

Today is our 26th day hitting 30C this year, meaning we've officially doubled our average of 13 days per year! We've also had numerous other days that are within half a degree of the 30.0C threshold, and we've got one more 30C in the forecast for tomorrow (and could very likely end up with more later in the month or even into September).
No idea if this is record setting or not (like our very warm July I imagine it's close but not quite at the top), but either way this has been quite an epic summer temperature-wise. (now if only the damn smoke would go away and we could get some consistent rain...)
