Snow showers now possible tonight, but far too mild for lying snow and tomorrow looks to be massively downgraded, so this will be a bit of a non-event.

November was 1.3°F colder than April, but felt a bit sunnier. November was much more variable than April. April just felt more frustrating because I was expecting more warmth vs November

NOWData shows that this 76°F high on Nov. 7th was the warmest day on record for November, however POR only goes back to 1996 according to NOWData.

To be fair, Tasmania is still physically connected to Australia. So, in a way, it's still part of Australia's landmass, no?

nei April around here was similarly craptastic. On April 7 it got to 75'F in Fond du Lac, but of course that front had to stop there and we had to wait another FOUR WEEKS for our first 70, literally the latest it's been in my life* November was good in terms of temperatures, that 3rd-9th period was world-class, but way too fkn dry and sunny, so it got boring and tedious in that regard too. *Our first 70 this year was May 2. According to NOWData, 2014 was worse with the first 70 being on May 8. However, I recorded a high of 71'F on April 21, 2014 (official high: 69'F), so I consider that to be the "first 70" of that year. This year had an awesome turnaround though: our last 70 on November 9, 2020 is tied for the latest in my lifetime, along with the awesome year of 1999.** **1999 was awesome in terms of temperatures. In terms of precip it left something to be desired, though, with a pathetically dry March in particular.

Queen Victoria was apparently quite interested in following the weather, according to her journals. She made a comment about the conditions nearly each day. She could have been a member of this forum if she'd lived long enough.
Some of her comments from the journals, she sounded scared of thunderstorms.
"A dreadful thunderstorm, with much rain, in the night, lasting from ½ p. 1, till 5! The air much refreshed, though the sun still stinging."
"A violent thunderstorm in the night, which woke me up & quite frightened me but in the morning it was very fine & hot."
"The thunderstorms, became very violent, with heavy rain, just as I came in, & lasted with little intermission the greater part of the afternoon."
"The thunderstorm was perfectly terrific in the night. 2 claps of thunder shook the house & there were crashes which resembled artillery fire."

I meant like geologically and physically, Australia/New Guinea/Tasmania are the same landmass or continent. Only separated by sea level rising 10K years ago. Or did I read that wrong?

After 12 days of December, the avg high/low at Trondheim Airp Værnes is 5.2C / -0.3C with mean 3C. If Dec mean for the full month is 2C, then the annual mean here will be 7.6C. Warmest year so far here and in Norway was 2014. Værnes then had annual mean 7.4C. Despite this, 2020 has been a mediocre year - at best. Very disappointing spring, with shit weather in Easter and near record-cold May, a poor and cold July when most people have their summer hollidays...winter and autumn is what really is lifting the annual mean.

I believe this year could be the mildest on record in Sheffield, with an average temperature of 10.6°C (51°F). This was down to the exceptionally mild winter and spring for the most part as the summer was average temperatures.

Met.Data how much rain did you end up getting the other day? I'm envious, though, considering we've had 2.5mm of precip this whole month so far and yesterday was an ice day here!

There is a chance some stations in Norway might record annual mean 10°C.
Using the average for Des as it stands now, this is the current annual 24-hr mean: Lindesnes 9.9°C - Sep was warmer than July, Nov warmer than May Torungen: 9.9°C Oksøy: 9.9°C Stavanger (Våland): 9.4°C Bergen (Florida): 9.4°C
So needs a warm end to Dec.
