I'm not saying the temperatures aren't dangerous. Just that many of these people formerly lived in very hot countries. Unless they've been here for 20+ years or something, then I don't personally understand the complaints. I imagine that there are very very few aircon-less houses and apartments in Western Sydney as well, and places like large shopping centres and cinemas are traditionally places to go on very hot days. If they expect comfort, then fair enough. There is plenty to be found here. I know people from India who hated the summers back home and much prefer the climate in Umeå. I think people living in hot third world countries hate the heat just as much as people in milder first world countries. I think the only difference is people living in third world countries have less control over the climate they experience, so it makes less sense to complain about it as it's a "what can you do" type of thing (as well as people generally not being that old of course). I don't really understand the point you're trying to make in your second sentence. Wasn't that exactly what they said in the article? That they don't have A/C, and that they normally take refuge in large shopping centres etc., but because of the pandemic they can't really do that. At least that's what I got from the article. I didn't read the article in detail though; I mostly skimmed through it, so it might be that I've misinterpreted the article and what they're saying. The article says that these people have air conditioners but can't afford to use them, which is a bit fucked (and something I missed initially). I assume that this only occurs in very hot years with an above average amount of 35C+ days (which is generally when I use the air conditioner myself). The pandemic hasn't affected the operation of shopping centres during summer, only in winter/spring here during the lockdown. Shopping centres also tend to stay really cool, even if they're packed with thousands of people. Anyway, I didn't realise it was up to the council to allow people to go into a well air conditioned building lol. Couldn't the owner of said building just organise something on a hot day? They used a church as an example which the council doesn't own.

Doesn’t take much in the way of heat for old people to start dropping like flies here.

They used a church as an example which the council doesn't own. People can't flock inside airconditioned public buildings because of the pandemic. I interpreted it as an issue that's become much more pressing this year than normally, and that's why they're raising the complaints. Maybe that's just a poor interpretation by me though

This has nothing to do with construction. This is a biased, sensationalist, selective heap of dog shit by the AGW lefties at the ABC. in one of Australia's more benign climates. These people are bitching because they can't go for an evening walk a few times a year, and it has all been blown out of proportion by our very own AGW network, the ABC. One couple in the article claim they can't go for their evening walks for the first time in 46 years, yeah as if there was no heat in the last 46 years. What a load of nonsensical rot. They were no doubt told to say that by the ABC crew.
Then another guy that these biased ABC muppets interviewed apparently requires a 24/7 airconditioned shopping centre to go to the toilet. So, AGW is bad enough now that you can't even take a piss in your own home. Fucking lol.
And what about those muppets that claim to spend $800 a quarter on Aircon. I am sure they set the unit to 18C and turn it on whenever the outside temp is 25C. That, or the ABC told to them to spew a bunch of bullshit. Fucking one of the most sensationalist, biased, alarmist, absurd articles I've ever read. The biased lefty AGW "journalists" and clowncils responsible for this rot need to be placed on a spit roast rotating slowly over a bed of flaming charcoal.
If anyone in Sydney is spending $800 on aircon a fucking quarter, they need help.... from something other than the fucken ABC. I set my aircon to 24C and set the fan speed to the lowest setting unless it gets to 38-40C outside and be comfortable with the help of a cheap pedestal fan and I can fucking afford it no worries.

PSA for all the aussies and others that use weatherzone: They FINALLY updated the availability of data, after 4 years of being stuck on 2016/17.

^ And people think the "anti-interesting weather shield" is merely a conspiracy theory......I mean, just look at those greens/40s get dicked right in the anus the second it crosses into Dade/Broward/Palm Beach counties.

Starting to reach that time of year where I get really bored and impatient with it still being winter. Thank god Fuckuary is only 28 days long. Counting down the days...

Seems like England is having an actual winter this year, much unlike here. I'd rather it didn't, frankly. Always hated winter and cold, lol. Last winter was awesome for me personally, 10 degrees every day I'll be satisfied if we get a good summer after this shitty winter but if we don't 2021 will be a proper fail year for me.

I was bored and impatient with winter once the first bit of snow fell. Still at least this winter isn't really cold compared to Europe.

My God. I accidentally looked at the forecast and there's like 2 inches of rain coming in the last few days of January, in addition to the 4 inches we've already had.
Worst winter in years.

Only the peak district/NW is under this flood warning from the Met Office but we're the place that gets all that water flowing downstream so I won't be surprised if we get floods here too with the next monsoon coming tomorrow.

19mm of rain today with more on the way. Month total up to 119mm, which is 50% wetter than average for the second month running. Today's temperature range also a massive 1.0°C. What an exciting and wonderful start to 2021.
Buxton (my former hometown) has had 268mm of rain so far this month. It is also 8°C there now and only 5°C here despite being at 1,000ft and only 20 miles away.

19mm of rain here as well, bringing our monthly total up to 106mm. Awful.

So jealous. Here there's snow on the ground which I so want to disappear, and off course no rain in the forecast.

Government Camp is a small ski town located at about 4000' elevation in the northern Oregon Cascades, about an hour east of Portland. Decided to average out the number of below 0F days per year by decade to determine how much our climate has herpderpified. 1950s: 1.33 (1950 and 1951 unfortunately not in dataset, but this figure would be much higher if they were) 1960s: 1.3 1970s: 2.2 1980s: 1.4 1990s: 1.2 wait for it 2000s: 0.3 2010s: 0.2 What the hell happened?
