I wish I lived in the USA right now... pulses of hot, humid weather broken down by intense electrical storms, meanwhile in shitey blighty we suffer the wonder and excitement of "Northern blocking" with 7Β°C daytime temperatures and endless drizzly stratocumulus, and yet 99% of UK weather forum members would apparently prefer the latter to the former, a special type of mental illness indeed.

I had a dream last night that the leaves had all come out in Saskatoon and we had full summer greenery already in early April. Ahh, if only!

Perth will get a good amount of rain from cyclone Seroja. Let's see how they'd like it there. With any luck it'll get dislodged from its foundations and float peacefully away.

What has happened? The * values are my estimates, as the Met Office haven't released the corrected data yet. Sep 2020: 183.7 hours (117% of 91-20 avg) Oct 2020: 57.2 hours (50%) - dullest on record Nov 2020: 48.2 hours (68%) Dec 2020: 39.1 hours (71%) Jan 2021: 30.8 hours* (50%) - 2nd dullest on record Feb 2021: 62.3 hours* (79%) Mar 2021: 98.6 hours* (79%) That's a 6 month period with just 66% of the average sunshine. Damn, no wonder Iβve been subconsciously so angry recently, that is an abomination, so bad that the the tabloids are calling 15c a mini heatwave rather than 20c lmao. Thatβs how fucking bad this past 6 months has been. Cloudy, cold, boring paint dry shit weather. I agree with you Meteoman - those dickheads on net weather are mentally ill to prefer this heap of shit to warm weather. I only hope they are repaid this summer with way above average sunny and drought conditions, leaving them suffering to sleep in the stifling 15c overnight lows and not being able to water their lawns.

Coldest morning of the year so far with 5.9C at the airport, and 5.0C on the PWS. Now we're having the windiest weather since early February, with wind gusts in the 60-69km/h range for the past couple of hours.

Very clear lake-effect sunshine from the three largest lakes in Sweden; VΓ€nern, VΓ€ttern, MΓ€laren and HjΓ€lmaren yesterday. MΓ€laren and HjΓ€lmaren are both very small lakes, yet they clearly have a pronounced effect on clouds

Temperatures still stubbornly below average but weβre stuck in a dry and sunny spell, very weird as this time last year we were at the start of an amazing stretch of spring weather but at the moment itβs stubbornly below average. Next week looks better but no repeat of recent good Aprils

Some huge rainfall totals in Far North Queensland ! A month's rain in a day and more on the way ( source: Weatherzone ) Queensland's North Tropical Coast has copped a soaking over the last couple of days, with some places picking up their entire monthly average in just 24 hours. And the wet weather isn't over yet. Moisture-laden winds feeding into a low pressure trough have been causing thick clouds and heavy rain over the northwest Coral Sea for the last couple of days. This rain has been further enhanced by the orographic effect where it drifted over northeast Queensland. This phenomenon occurs when air flowing up the side of a mountain becomes cooler with elevation. As moisture-laden air cools, it produces more rain, like a sponge being wrung out. Falls of 180-240mm were recorded between Cairns and Tully during the 24 hours to 9am on Monday. Cairns (Racecource) picked up 189mm of rain during this time, which was its highest daily total in 15 months. Further south, a rain gauge at Mulgrave Mill received 180mm. This is on par with the site's April monthly average of 184.5mm. Mount Sophia's 240mm and Saltwater Creek's 239mm were some of the highest totals in the region during the 24 hours to 9am Monday. Looking ahead, areas of heavy rain will continue in northeast Queensland on between now and Wednesday as the low pressure trough approaches and moves over the coast. More showers and thunderstorms are likely from Thursday onwards, with the potential for more heavy falls along the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands District through to the weekend. This prolonged spell of wet weather may cause some flooding, so be sure to check the latest flood watches and warnings throughout the week.

Fort Collins has interestingly had the exact same number of sub-0 highs and 100+ highs. Both have occurred 27 times.
Sub-0 highs have occurred 7 times in January, 8 times in February, 1 time in November, and 11 times in December.
16/127 years have had a sub-0 high, thatβs about 1 in 8. However, the most recent was in January 1997.
The most sub-0 highs in a month was 4 in December 1983, which is also the most in a year. However winter 1932-1933 had 5 such days.
β
100+ highs have occurred 9 times in June, 17 times in July, and 1 time in August.
Despite June being the coolest summer month, it is a lot more prone to extreme heat. The 1 occurrence in August was on the 1st.
16/127 years have had a 100+ high, also exactly the same as sub-0. However, they have been becoming more common with 7 such years since 2000.
The most 100+ highs in a month was 4 in July 1954, and the most in a year was 5 in 1954.
β
1990 was the only year where both occurred (June 27th and December 20-21st).
1954 and 2006 had 100+ highs in both June and July.
1919 had sub-0 highs in both November and December.
β
By decade: <0 >100 1890s: 2 0 1900s: 1 1 1910s: 3 1 1920s: 2 1 1930s: 6 3 1940s: 1 0 1950s: 1 5 1960s: 2 0 1970s: 0 1 1980s: 6 0 1990s: 3 2 2000s: 0 8 2010s: 0 5

Some quotes from netweather right now: "temp is firmly sat at 11C and again it feels cold in the breeze. Plenty more of this to come but without the sun and more rainy. Going to be a horrid spell." "Some utterly atrocious charts being churned out again this morning, lots of days struggling to reach 10c next week" - this guy lives in the south "On saturday I had a few friends over and we played some cards in the garden with some drinks - as soon as the sun began to set around 8pm, we had to move inside because the hurricane force easterly was absolutely frigid. It's so weird that even an evening temperature of like 8 degrees would feel positively balmy right now. I honestly don't remember anything like it and it's thoroughly depressing"
"The outlook really is absolutely miserable today. Cold, unsettled and absolutely no sign of even average temperatures well into May." Fuckin shitey blighty!
