Wales and Scotland could realistically finish the year with the hottest temperatures in the UK! That can't happen very often at all! I don't see Scotland beating that Wales high, but I also can't imagine England not surpassing it at this rate. No way will Scotland beat that, but there's every possibility England won't beat the Scottish high. In fact, North West England could take the English title for this summer!

London will beat that Scotland high, surely. Not necessarily! I believe the average warmest day of the year in London is 31.7C, and recent years, despite the constant whining, London has had some it's hottest temperatures on record. I think London will beat it personally.

I think it'll beat it. Might set up a poll in a bit to see what people think lol.

Eggedal is apparently at 300m and even so manages to have the warmest highs in much of the summer in all of the nordics. Wtf. C h e c k y o u r f a c t s
Eggedal weather station is situated at 143 m ASL (also called Nedre Eggedal - lower Egge Valley).
Recently a meteorologists explained why the valleys west of Oslo have the warmest summer highs: Their geography - the SE lowland turns into sheltered valleys when approaching the main mountain range (Kjølen mts). So the air gets trapped by the terrain, and warmed by the sun. Here it is - Nedre Eggedal. Apparently in autumn.

When it rains in non- Mediterranean Europe (in places with highs in the 22-28c range) what are the dewpoints? Usually almost 100% humidity when it rains so unless it cools a lot, dewpoints will be high
Helsinki Kumpula saw 21.4 mm of rain on 21 June, which is a lot on our standards. The high for the day was 16.5C and the low 11.1C. Highest dew point was 13.9C when the air temperature was 14.3C and RH 97% at 17:30.

There are about 9-10 days above 29c on average at Heathrow, and there haven't been any 30c days at Heathrow so far this year. The 'constant whining' is in relation to constant below average sunshine, nothing to do with temperatures. This summer is well overdue with the sunny May, and June looking like it will also be a bit sunnier than average, especially after that March and April!

There were supersticious people who were certain this summer would be astonishingly bad in the UK because years ending with 8 have had significantly below average summers on average.

Which was a joke, plus we aren't even half way though this summer, it could still end up with below average temperatures and sunshine.
