Just Lol @ you thick fucks going all "craazy because it happened in JUNE!!11" n shiet. It's basically July FFS.
Also Ytitty, latitude has nothing to do with heat extremes.

Take Portland for example, today averages 25/13 and itβs peak in early August is 29/16. The heat records in the PNW are also almost all in July/August. Beating all time records is always impressive, but itβs even more above anomalous and above average when itβs occurring now.

PORTLAND HAS DONE IT 108Β°F New heat record not just for the month of June but all time I drove back home from the Oregon Coast just now. Hereβs a log of car temps: Oswald West parking lot (1/2 mile from ocean) - 70 101/26 interchange (2 miles from ocean) - 78 Milepost 5 - 83 Milepost 10 - 85 Milepost 11 - 87 Douglas Summit - 87 Milepost 18 - 91 Elsie Roadhouse - 92 Coast Range Crest - 93 Washington County Line - 100 Manning - 103 North Plains - 107 Hillsboro / Milepost 64 - 109 Beaverton - max temp 111 Crazy especially since it happened in June (albeit late June but still). Let this sink in: [redacted] It was muggy as well before the dew point drop with winds becoming easterly, temps around 100Β°F with dew points in the mid-upper 60s F!

Mentioned this in the chat earlier but it's essentially the equivalent of when Texas had that wacko arctic blast back in Feb. Off the charts anomalous and broke all time records.

More weatheronline rediculousness, 52C lmao. They just keep getting worse and worse. As Omega already said, Portland OR broke their all-time record high yesterday; just doing a quick check of other NWS sites in the PNW, Seattle had a high of 102 F (39 C) which is the second-hottest temperature of all time there, and broke the monthly record by a long shot. Impressive 102/60 (39/16) diurnal range in Olympia WA. Not quite record territory in Spokane, but 98 F (37 C) is still a good showing - and of course it's only expected to get hotter over the next couple of days.

Okay, at this point, we can safely disregard Weatheronline as a plausible medium for forecasts. From this point on, I will never so much as click onto that site ever again.

Works generally well for Europe (very well for Turku for example), but outside Europe I would use other sites.

Environment Canada is now forecasting that Lytton, BC will be at or above 45C for the next three days straight. They could end up breaking the country's all-time heat record multiple times this week. Insane doesn't even begin to describe it...

Kamloops June record high: 40.5C
July record high (and alltime): 41.7C
Extremes began in 1890.
Their next 4 days are:
27th: 42/22 28th: 43/20 29th: 45/21 30th: 42/20
They could break their record high four days in a row! From 131 years of records

Words can't describe how angry I am after seeing that Lytton forecast. I'm tempted to frigging smash something seeing a town at 50 fucking degrees north get temps that are noteworthy even in fucking Phoenix, to put it mildly, and when a governmental meteorological agency forecasts these temperatures, that says a lot. ------------- NWS has upgraded Sunday night's low to 81Β°F for Portland. Won't be that warm but a low in the mid-upper 70s would be insane. Also a 108Β°F (!!!) forecast high Monday for Seattle

I think outside Europe weatheronline just has GFS model output for their forecasts

Beating all time records is always impressive, but itβs even more above anomalous and above average when itβs occurring now. usual reason why the Pacific Northwest has such lagged summers is the ocean is still cold in June. there's 0 onshore flow during the heat wave, at least in the middle of it, so it being June doesn't matter as much. It's right around the summer solstice, perfect time for the sun to heat the surface under a very hot airmass
