I quite like this. I hate this. Nobody is getting extreme heat, I'd still call it a win

Yesterday had nice round numbers here, high of 10.0C and low of -2.0C. Today we have a forecast high of 10C again and it may very well be our last one of the year, as our temperatures plummet after that. Monday has a forecast high of 0C, our first of the season, though of course that's far away enough that it could change before then.

Classic rain shadow today - amber rain warning for Cumbria with up to 250mm expected in areas, with 100-150mm widely. Meanwhile completely dry here, with the rain band never pushing east of the Pennines. Still, if a lot of rain falls over the Dales then it will inevitably flow downstream to here...

Anomalously hot weather continues in Argentina...some of yesterday's highs: Aren't these the same areas impacted by unusual chill earlier in the year ?

Hurricane Mcghee was in full afterburner in Melbourne this morning. The insane wind I had last night went there

Had a high of 91F Monday setting a new daily record. Substantially cooler and blustery behind the front that came thru Wednesday. Had a high of 67F yesterday with wind gusts nearly 40 mph. Didn't cool down much last night due to cloud cover (low was 56F). High today is 65F.
Didn't get anything too severe locally with Wednesday's storms ahead of frontal passage. Tornadoes struck in SW Louisiana and SE Texas. A damaging tornado hit Lake Charles.

Fall foliage peaked last weekend here, definitely on the way out now. The windy Tuesday/Wednesday blew off a bunch of leaves too, many of the cottonwoods are bare now.
Weโre also now considered to be in โsevere droughtโ by the drought monitor (D2). Despite the wet spring, drought had developed again due to the very dry pattern since June.
Since June 1, only 2.48โ (63 mm) has fallen compared to a normal of 7.59โ (193 mm). Thatโs just 33% of normal and during the warm season. This is the 5th driest such period.
It looks like we could get actual accumulating snow in a few days, timing is uncertain though. Will put an end to the boring October.

The 30th anniversary of a pretty epic Halloween Snowstorm here in MN (Halloween/November 1st, 1991). Up to three feet (36 in/91 cm) fell in NE Minnesota from this storm, looks like 12-16" (30.5 - 40.6 cm) fell here, 20-24" (50.8 - 61.0 cm) just to my east. Epic stuff.
