Darwin Airport ( 1941-2021 ) 12.4239°S 130.8925°E 30m AMSL. August was another well above month for max temps, min temps and rainfall. the 19.2mm at the Airport was the wettest August since 1988 when 51.2mm fell. The mean max for the month, 33.4c, is a full 2c above the long term averages ( since 1941 ) and 0.3c above the previous record set in 2017. The mean min temp of 21.5c is 1.2c above the the long term averages. Only 4 overnights dipped below 20c, the lowest number of such mornings since 1992. ( Average is 13 August mornings per year below 20c ) And, for the second year in a row, Darwin recorded 5 +35c days in August 2021. Up until 2019, there had only been 14 +35c August days since 1941. The total is now 24, after 5 such August days in 2020 and 5 such August days in 2021. Bring On The Build Up !

Just looking at the colors of the climate box satisfies me a lot this year. The best(coolest) summer since 2014. Worth taking note of that its lowest annual highest temperature peaked at 33.3°C(as of 31 August) since 2007(tied). Doubt September will exceed 33~34°C in the current forecast model, so I guess it's safe to declare it. I need more summers like this in the future. Aeropooft de' Rectuum August 2021 Crummarie
Not much to say really. It was actually slightly above avg, with some days of Hurricane Mcghee. Hurricane Mcghee is defined as wind gusts >45km/h, therefore this month had 9 days with Hurricane Mcghee. The evening of the 22nd had a classic inland high-based short and sharp storm cell pass through, with some mad high-based CG lightning, and a heavy downpour.

August 2021 in London was one of the worst Augusts of all time. It was a very cool and cloudy month, though slightly drier than average. It was the 2nd cloudiest summer month on record in London (after August 1958), and the absolute max of 25.3c was the lowest in August for 35 years.

Slightly warmer, and drier than normal. Extremely boring month, specifically the stretch between the 16th and the 25th where it hardly rained nor dropped below 80 F. Fuck August, I'm very happy to see that shitty month in the rearview mirror.

August started off quite hot, with the above average summer heat continuing strongly through the first half of the month and culminating in our second highest temperature of the year at 37.5C on the 14th. After that, it cooled significantly with a lot of fall-like weather and ended up being 0.2C cooler than June (but was still slightly above average), which is quite uncommon. In a normal year that would probably annoy me, however the previous two months before the cool-down were so hot and epic that I just can't complain at all. The cooler weather also brought more consistent rain than we've had all year and an end to the obnoxious smoke we dealt with through most of late July and early August, so that was quite welcome. I'm a bit suspicious of Environment Canada's precipitation stats, as there were several rainfalls that appeared to drop a much higher quantity of rain than what the stats officially reported, and at least one day I can remember with significant rain that registered zero precipitation on EC's end. So I'm not sure what's up with that, but I suspect the real precipitation amount was probably 10 to 15 mm higher than reported. Stats: ------ Average high: 24.6C (normal: 24.9C) Average low: 11.0C (normal: 10.3C) Mean temperature: 17.8C (normal: 17.6C) Warmest high: 37.5C (August 14th) Warmest low: 18.9C (August 3rd) Coldest high: 14.7C (August 24th) Coldest low: 2.5C (August 25th) Precipitation total: 38.4mm (normal: 42.6mm) Precipitation days: 9 (normal: 9.4) Wettest day: 16.1mm (August 23rd) Highs above 35C: 1 Highs above 32C: 4 Highs above 30C: 7 Highs above 25C: 15 Highs above 20C: 23

The problem is FMI counts every second as a basic unit for the sunshine duration. Applies the same even if I choose a 10-minute or 1-hour time interval. It won't be accurate unless I'm collecting 40,320(28 days)~44,640(31 days) quantities of data to summarize each month's sunshine hours. They should add a feature of hourly basis information.
