So for this I'm basically going to be adding together the total amount of snow I've seen fall during the season.
As of right now, that amount is about 1-2 inches plus several instances of trace/flurries.
Will update after the coming storm.

Not much snow in Saskatoon this winter - 13mm of precipitation in November and 1mm in December so far (pretty much all of it snow). Of course, the super cold temperatures means that it all sticks around (well, mostly - we officially have 6cm of snow on the ground at the moment). I think I prefer this to having large dumps of wet snow followed by thawing and a disgusting slushy mess a few days later (though I would of course prefer milder temperatures than what we have).
Last couple years we had a very dry start to the winter with minimal snowpack and then a proper amount of snow came in towards the end, so we'll see if this pattern repeats yet again this year. (I just hope February doesn't end up being the coldest month of the winter this time around)

We've got about 3cm of snow cover. It looks like it's going to be permanent snowcover from now on.

Some nordic satellite images from today: Not a lot of snow in Finland; they tend to get less precipitation in the winter compared to Sweden, and possibly a higher ratio of rain to snow. Meanwhile at Umeå's latitude in Sweden, only a rough 5km strip nearest to the sea is without a snow cover, as well as Umeå itself, as you can see from the satellite images. And meanwhile, the Trondheim region has a very extensive snow cover, despite having had well above freezing temperatures all winter. They must've had very heavy precipitation during the few subfreezing conditions they've had.

^^Yeah that's one of the advantages of having the sea to the NW - the possibility of good snowfall even if winter is not cold. Btw: Down in the left corner in the satelitte image is Sunndalsøra, and down to the right is Røros close to Glåmos.
