Went to the grocery store this afternoon. Should have worn winter boots. Dumb decision not to. Some roads are still pretty snowed over, like the parking lots.

A warm thaw day yesterday reduced our snowpack to 4" (10cm). Snowcover has been consistent now since January 6th, totaling 36 straight days, quite consistent. The number of significant pack (4"+ or 10cm+) has been 26 days, since January 16th.

Snowfall is about half of normal. It didn't snow until late December, then 3.9" fell on 1/1. The only other snowfall over 2" was 2.2 on the 24th. A lot of days get a few snowflakes, but not much more than that.
Below average temps have kept a thin layer of snow since the 1st in shaded spots and woods, but open fields like the airport weather station went bare.

Looking very likely that February will be a totally snowless month here. January only had falling snow but no settling snow, so overall a pretty poor winter for snowfall.

Only ice I've seen since the first half of January has been ice pellets in a couple of showers. Long may that be the case.
