How can the record not be higher if the average annual precipitation is 520 mm? And pretty sick that its already been surpassed with more than two full months left on the calendar.

Large temperature contrast between Capanna Margherita and Visp, 41 km (25 mi) due north. Maybe it's usual lol, I usually don't look at that area on the temp map: Just a 3900 m altitude difference

This fall has progressed remarkably slow in Sweden this year. In southern Sweden there has barely been any temperature decline to speak of since mid-September. Sadly a huge number of stations in Sweden had a two week gap in October, including Umeå airport. Holmön island in Umeå municipality managed to stay online though. Up here we did see a sharp drop in mid-October, but we haven't had any additional decline since then. It really feels like fall has been on stand-still for ages.

Was meaning that temp diff is more characteristic of the dry adiabatic lapse rate, which must not occur every day. Temps due south of the Monte Rosa massif at similar altitudes to the upper Rhône valley were quite a bit cooler.

Although it's only 17C, I can feel the polar chill. Temperature gradient is rather dramatic here (thanks to the foehn effect).

Babu That's extremely stable. Wow. 🖕🏿Mörön🖕🏿 NWS has 11/-4F and 8/-3 early next week in Cut Bank, Montana. Winter is coming. Meanwhile it's warm here. Minneapolis reached 76F today, that's practically summer! A station called Rush City recorded 79 at alex992 's latitude and there was a 78 near Bismarck, ND. Milwaukee recorded 71/42 today, the second 70F in a row. Tomorrow and Friday could reach 70 also. Average for the 2nd is 54/38.

Severe threat for late Friday into early Saturday. An unusual Day 3 upgrade to enhanced risk this afternoon by SPC for northeast TX. Upgrade mainly due to damaging wind threat. SPC also mentions a conditional tornado threat, possibly significant. Looking like storm complex will come through my area the early morning hours of Saturday.

With a high of -2.7C, yesterday was our first ice day since April 15th. And judging by the forecast, there's plenty more of that coming right up.

Upgrade to moderate risk issued (level 4 out of 5 threat) with latest SPC update. Could be an outbreak of severe weather with some strong tornadoes.

First real snow of the season last night, had 1.6” (4 cm) as of 7 PM last night with more falling after. Sunshine today melted most of it but it was still a solid layer and lasted well into the morning.
Next week doesn’t look great though, cold but dry. Id love some more snow but sunny 38-45 ain’t it.
