Went hiking up in Nederland on Saturday. Distance: 12.1 miles Time: 7 hours Starting elevation: 8,900’ Highest elevation: 11,845’ Was a very nice day with clear skies, little wind and cool temps. Pond at the start, good view of the backside of Eldora ski mountain: > < First part of the hike climbs through forest before eventually coming up to a ridge with views down the valley: > The trail gets rockier and the scenery opens up into meadows. Views up to the continental divide where we’d be later in the day: < 4 miles in, we came to Jasper lake, a nice decent sized mountain lake. Neat rocky peaks above it: > < Snowy peaks come into view, reminds me a bit of the PNW: > < The rock formation on the left is called the devils thumb. Came by Devils thumb Lake below it, lake was long and skinny and not really photogenic. > < After this, we came into a huge tundra meadow and then climbed steeply up to the continental divide at Devil’s thumb pass (roughly in the center of this pic): Overlooking the meadow: Looking back down the valley you can see the backside of the Boulder flatirons and out onto the plains: > Unfortunately the plains blend in with the sky and don’t come out well in pics: <

17C, mostly cloudy. Starting to see a change in the leaves now. that sort of bright overcast with shapes to the clouds is the cloudy skies I like. wouldn't want it everytime, but nice some days and not depressing

The temperature hit 21.6C in Auckland today, the record high for October so far after a relatively cool 7.9C morning. The foliage is mostly green now, and the cherry blossoms are almost gone

From today. Temp was 6C. Flattened from Fiona. Used to be so tall you couldn't see above it (in summer).

Not my image, but a storm rolling into the Gold Coast. Looks incredible.

Pics from mid-October in western Normandy: Large ship out at sea. One can barely make out the name of the shipowner due to the curvature of the Earth!

^^ Always a bit jealous of your location: huge city with nice looking nature nearby. Pics from the past few weeks. Mid-October: Local fauna

Went up to the Hawks Nest in NY state on October 20th. Also went to Roebling's Delaware Aqueduct which crosses from NY into PA. Oldest suspension cable bridge still standing in the US that was used in the 1800s to transport coal. Roebling also designed the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC.

Nice sunset today! Surface mist building as soon as the sun hides as it's clear with no wind:

Fall colors are starting to progress here, and should peak in about a week from now.
November 4 - still mostly green with blue dome skies and temps in the mid 70sF
November 12 - today was mostly cloudy and slightly warm, temp of 70F, with good pops of color in a lush forest after some mild rains
Stunning sunset on November 7 which recorded temps in the low 80sF with the Atlanta skyline in the background
