AJ1013 ilmc90 Yup that amount of snow is uncommon. Overall, the last time was 2013, before that 2010 and before that 2005, though it varies from one spot to another in the metro. I'd say about once every 5 years. Took advantage of the sunny weather to take a walk in the "nearby" woods. Lots of dripping, Orly airport almost made it to 5°C. it looks colder, you got much better winter wonderland scenery than I have all winter Could be here, though really any four season climate putting all the town photos in a spoiler makes the area look much more rural Nice looking houses and nice village center with the stone church my favorite we're getting rain, too. but our snow was ugly from getting rain mixed in. Your sun didn't last long. At least rain held off so the snow last till the weekend. Rain today? What was you snow depth yesterday? The snow depth yesterday was 9 cm at Orly airport, down from 15 cm 3 days before. There's none left apart from piles and drifts today thanks to rain and wind. Not sure what it was in the locales I showed here as few stations post snow depth, but there was more than here as they're further west and up. The first park I think peaked at around 20 cm, the rural parts shown at the end around 20-25 cm going by local amateur obs. Less yesterday.

It has snowed about 15 cm more today and still snowing. Measured the snow depth at 97-99cm in the yard. Unclear how much ice there is on the bottom, so it might very well be over a meter already. Outdoors clothes dryer is looking a little short, and neighbours windows have started to get covered by snow. I have never seen this much snow in my life.

the fog I was talking about to Strewthless @nqp15hhu and alex992. Took this out of the bus window, didn't work that well but you can see a hint of ground fog. was almost half an hour after sunset, my phone camera managed but with an odd look. The ones that weren't horrible why's there a police car? This street has a 20 mph speed limit, btw. Often drive just under, sometimes a bit faster. Ice and slush all gone! pushing the low light limit of my phone

Here there are a couple of random pictures I took during the last week: Sunset in southern Turin last monday (this is a tram stop) The day after the sky was extremely clear for Turin standards (it is not Bologna, but you can't see mountains so clearly everyday). The mountain you can see (well, sort of) in the background is the Rocciamelone, so the same mountain I usually show you in my pictures taken in my village. The top of that mountain is about 50 Km away from that part of Turin. On the other hand, at the end of the week the sky turned cloudy again and so that mountain was no more visible neither from my place (distance of about 8 Km to the top, few Km to the base)

From this weekend. Freezing fog on this mountain plateau near Røros, ca 800 m asl. Røros No fog to block the sun in Trondheim, where the sun melted snow on black surfaces and felt almost spring-like today after visiting Røros.

Now has come the time when it's going to be impossible to see the sunrise. I'll first see it again in October. During the morning walk with the dog, the sun has already risen higher than noon in the beginning of December. Also, can you spot the snowbow? It's more visible in this shot.

You have another 2 months before the days become super-long. Shouldn't be that hard especially right after you change your clocks.

In one week it's below 7. I won't be waking up at 7 anytime soon. I'm more likely to watch the sunrise in Thailand. (And we'll be seeing it either on the way to Beijing or while in Beijing)

(And we'll be seeing it either on the way to Beijing or while in Beijing) I thought my solar noon was early; you must have one of the earliest in your time zone. I'm at -10m before noon. I've been waking up around sunrise lately, but I still miss as I have curtains in my room and don't get outside fast enough, also not a great view from my place. I have a friend how has an apartment on a slight hill with a great view. Thought you got up earlier. Meant to get by sunrise Sunday morning post-snowstorm, didn't get out of bed quickly as I assumed it'd still be cloudy. Nice light once I got out but missed the sunrise glow. Well not really snowstorm, we got 4 inches of snow not really a "storm". Taken at 7:30 am took a zoomed in version, too. Think the first one was better cause the sky looked nice or do people like the bigger version better? I like those houses, closer up It was just past 8 am but with the sun and the temperatures already warming up the snow was starting to melt and soften. Doesn't not look like post-snowstorm on a cold winter morning. =================== then went for a hike at a local park with a small mountain. Shoutbox conversation on politics distracted me from getting out the door. Started just before 1 pm, sun had already melted the sun off the trees. Nice there was black ice on rocks. Sounded like rain with the sun melted. Warmed up into the low 40s. getting to the cliff view snow isn't deep can make out Easthampton
