Warm weather has persisted for much of central and eastern Australia this week. ( Source BoM ) On Friday, large parts of New South Wales and northern Victoria reached the high 20's to low 30's including Sydney, Griffith and Echuca. This weekend, heat will begin to move to the north of the country. Maximum temperatures will remain 6 to 12 degrees above the September average through Western Australia's Kimberley region, central Northern Territory, and western Queensland. Cooler southerly winds will continue to move across Central Australia into early next week, causing heat to further contract to Western Australia's west coast from Monday. Summer heat wave dew points across Cascadia- further evidence for my observation that Vancouver BC tends to be more humid than Portland and Seattle

Today's highs (so far). Forecast said 22'C. Only places colder than UmeΓ₯ today has been stations in the literal arctic part of the Scandes mountain chain. Doesn't really matter all that much to me though since I haven't stepped outside today. Current temps: The culprit:

Summer is over. Very cold lows with lame ass mid-upper 70s highs and low 50s dewpoints in the foreskincast here. Especially if winds decouple at night, Monday night may see a min temp below the Sept mean min of 54Β°F for 1991-2020 at the AP.
The "showers and thunderstorms" forecast per NWS for yesterday were also nowhere to be seen, most all of instability remained offshore ahead of the cold front.

An already well below average forecast high today of 76Β°F (as of yesterday) ended up being 70Β°F (AP 71Β°F), due to a layer of northern European-style stratocrapulus lingering the entire fucking day. Earliest in season since 1994 a max temp this cold would occur here today as this arctic start to Septictember keeps chugging along like a steam train. No rain either, temps were only further held down by the insipid cloud layer Septictember started off with one 91/73Β°F day on the 1st...since then it's been comically gay, picking up right where the boring Boregust left off

58F is forecast here tonight! Coolest low since the end of April. Was sunny with a high of 82F today.
Looking like I may be right in the path of the tropical system coming. Haven't had any significant tropical impacts locally since Laura and Delta in 2020.
