First half of September averaged 85.9/51.7 f. As typical for September, lows cool off before the highs. The average high is slightly above the August average but lows are significantly cooler. Iโve been enjoying it a lot, pleasantly warm days, cool mornings/evenings and lots of dry weather for hiking. Still managed a couple thunderstorms though which has been nice.

Insane rain totals in the space of around 12 hours from Potential Tropical Cyclone #8 across Carolina Beach, Southport, and BSL earlier today Flooding Rediculous for a region with no orography to speak of. Speaking of unusual rainfall totals, parts of Austria had more rain in 4 days than ever record during a complete fall lol. All thanks to Vb low Boris. Healthy snowpack for mid-September in the Austria Alps... Vienna high temps YTD Unfortunately Boris triggered catastrophic flooding in Czechia, Romania and especially Poland when everything fell as rain as opposed to places further SW.

Coolest high so far this month is just 78 (26 c), making this the latest on record for the first </=77 f (25 c) high in September.
However, there hasnโt been any notable heat, highest temp is 92 (33 c) which would be the lowest since 2016. Just very consistent mid-high 80s.

I was wrong, to my utmost surprise despite low clouds hanging around till 12 PM - several hours longer than forecast, today didn't just reach the forecast high, it overperformed it!
83.8/68.7ยฐF daily high/low at my PWS, 86/67ยฐF at New Bern AP. A nice treat for this severely below average Septictember, been the warmest day in over two weeks

Oh man the Sichuan basis sticks out so much. It's practically like Mordor
Hopefully the final day of the heatwave here. 25.5C overnight low, although a cold front is coming through so the overall statistics won't reflect that

Meteorological and Astronomical seasons in the Southern Hemisphere. ( Source: Weatherzone ) The Southern Hemisphereโs spring equinox will occur this weekend and that means more sunshine on the forecast for Australia. The spring equinox refers to the moment the sun appears to pass directly over Earthโs equator. This causes day and night to be roughly equal in length for most places on Earth around the date of the equinox. ^^Image: Orientation of the Sun and Earth on the date of the spring equinox. Following the equinox in September, the Southern Hemisphere starts to become more tilted towards the Sun and the Northern Hemisphere tilts away from the Sun. This causes days to get longer and nights to get shorter across the Southern Hemisphere. While Australiaโs meteorological spring started on September 1, the astronomical spring for the Southern Hemisphere begins on the date of the equinox. The reason for this difference is due to the meteorological season more closely matching the annual temperature cycles experienced most populated areas on Earth. ^^Image: The difference between Earthโs astronomical and meteorological seasons. Source: NOAA Office of Education/Kaleigh Ballantine This yearโs Southern Hemisphere spring equinox will occur at 10:44pm AEST on Sunday, September 22. Australia will now have more daylight than darkness for the next six months, until the autumnal equinox on March 20, 2025.

Was digging through last year's September thread, and realized that last year September was also the warmest in history. Thanks to Cadeau for the neat chart cdweather.boards.net/thread/4426/september-2023-summary?page=1Our current Sept mean is over 27C...we're going to blow last year's record completely out of the water
