Pretty impressively warmer than forecast low here last night, ended up being 64.2Β°F at my PWS and 63Β°F (since midnight) at New Bern AP.
The illustrious foreskincasters at National Wanker Service couldn't forecast their next piss, they predicted a 57Β°F daily low temp.

Perth to sizzle in extreme October heat ( att: Beercules ) ( source: Weatherzone ) People of Perth and southwestern WA, prepare for a scorching last few days to round out the month. An extreme run of heat is coming next week, with Perth temps set to soar as much as 14 degrees above the October average maximum of 23.4Β°C. At this stage, Weatherzone's forecast maximum temps for Perth for Monday through to Thursday are: Monday 33Β°C Tuesday 35Β°C Wednesday 36Β°C Thursday 37Β°C These temperatures are obviously not as severe as the temps in the 40s which every Perth resident has sweltered through in recent summers, however they are still exceptionally hot for this time of year. Indeed, Perth's hottest October temperature of 37.3Β°C *(in 148 years of records) is very much under threat. *Notes/- Perth Airport recorded 37.7c in Oct 1961 ( my own notes ) What's the cause of next week's heat? Heat from the interior which will be pushed towards the west coast by persistent easterlies circulating around a large belt of high pressure centered south of the continent. Meanwhile temps across the entire South West Land Division will gradually increase as a trough in the west of the state deepens throughout next week. If the mercury does reach 37Β°C next Thursday in Perth, it'll be the city's hottest day since February 20. Is this event a heatwave? Not officially at this stage, no. In its official definition of a heatwave, the BoM specifies that there is no single temperature threshold for a heatwave in Australia, but that a heatwave is defined as: "Three or more days in a row when both daytime and night-time temperatures are unusually high β in relation to the local long-term climate and the recent past." Regardless of how you describe next week's weather, we're tipping the beaches will be popular.

Got down to 31 (1 c) this morning, the first freeze of the season. This was the latest first freeze on record (for since 1893), one day later than the previous record.
However, the constant above average temps are coming to a sudden end on Tuesday. TWC has a whole week of 45-55 f highs and sub-freezing lows. While I loved September and October, this is where having the above average streak then comes back to bite us. Below average in September and much of October would still be pleasant, but now that the below average is hitting in November, it's shitty weather. Would rather have had a cold October and warm November but oh well. Hopefully its only a week and then 60s will return.

0.02β (0.5 mm) fell today, ending the rainless month. This was the first rain since September 22nd, a dry streak of 37 days.
High was 55 (13 c) in the morning before cooling down, didnβt exceed 50 after 2 PM. I liked today, chilly, cloudy and with light sprinkles. Ideal for an October cold snap.
