The sun eventually comes out there… it might hide away for one week or two but then you'll see it. Once in a while we get trapped under slate gray skies, but obviously not nearly as often as Upstate NY. There are days though that feel very Upstate NY-esq.

As someone who lives in Upstate NY, they probably are. Feels like we get 220 annual sunshine hours, not 2200 lol Haha. I'm thinking you'd have to lop off at least 200 hours from Syracuse's total. I've lived in Valparaiso before (2,119hrs) and it felt wayyy sunnier. Like in Valparaiso the clouds would last max three or four days, Upstate NY you could go for weeks without seeing the sun

I feel like my quality of life will improve a million times once I get out of Upstate NY. I hate that place more and more by the day

I was in Ithaca for a few days in June; I'll try to visit it occasionally once I move to NYC

if I were back home rather than at my parent's …
Per the HWRF / HRRR / NCAR ensembles, reason to believe that this band has the potential of producing 1-3"/hr snowfall rates where snow-ratios modify higher with the influx of colder air, winds picking up out of the W behind the band such that considering the fluffy snow we could be dealing with blowing and drifting, potential for near-blizzard criteria with white-out conditions.
Snow is expected in northwest MA and north central MA for most of the storm. The snow may be moderate to heavy at times. Total snow accumulations are expected to reach 4 to 7 inches in the Warning area, with a localized 8 inch amount possible nearest to the Vermont and New Hampshire borders.
forecast upped the totals to 4-8 inches.

Once more 1°C and cloudy, seems like we're stuck in an eternal limbo between autumn and winter this time of the year...

coldest forecast I can remember in a very long time. 8 days where it won't go above 20°F. Lows are less impressive. 5 days below 14°F (-10°C). Of course it might not pan out; weather underground often exaggerates. I'm switching to °C here since this forum has more foreignors here than CD used to

blasting wind this morning; 30 mph west wind, 40 mph gusts in Farmingdale, NY [Long Island near my parents house]. Map of wind gusts national weather map; can see the cold front has just passed and a low off-shore that brought snow inland and rain to the coast. Neat altocumulus yesterday afternoon from being on the edge of the low Christmas morning temperatures

Not sure how much snow we got, probably around an inch or so. Will check the official reports when they become available. Currently 33 F/1 C and overcast with a windchill of 24 F/-4 C. I can hear the wind outside. Thursday might stay below 20 F/-7 C:

O боже, they're predicting negative temperatures until January 4th now! In December even getting 3 straight days below 32F is not very usual, not it's gonna be happen for more than a week

I see a high of 10 F/-12 C in the forecast. That said, NYC isn't going to be a cake walk. Some of those buildings just funnel a wickedly cold wind.
