Maybe a good snow event for the southern U.S. tonight and tomorrow? Hopefully I get something. The GFS shows it skipping my area...

Look how far south the winter weather advisories go in Texas! Remind me of the winter storm at the beginning of February in 2011, where it snowed as far south as Tampico, Mexico, at a tropical latitude at sea level! Good chance at seeing frozen precip in the FL Panhandle as well tomorrow night/Saturday morning.

Zonal flow will bring clouds/rain at least 95% of the time. A ridge like this will either bring 100% clear skies, 100% fog, or a mix between those two. So far, it's been a mix between those two. When I lived in Eugene, Oregon a few years ago...January 2013 was extremely dense fog and below freezing almost every day. Okay, I might be inaccurate on the below freezing everyday part but that's what it seemed like. It was disgusting to say the least because there was no sun. Unfortunately fog has prevailed for elevations below 50m. My high today was only 3C.

Everywhere from San Antonio to Austin to Houston got a couple of inches. College Station (Texas A&M) got 6" ! Meanwhile... might get the first 1-2" in NYC this weekend.

It's supposed to snow here tomorrow, apparently. I heard on the radio more snow, potentially, down the shore! I had plans for tomorrow; might want to change those

You know, this is reminding me of 2013... I remember quite well the snow on this date 4 years ago. Then, too, Texas got snow a few days before us... then we got hammered with snow. Same pattern perhaps

Same pattern perhaps I got really cold in the Midwest; I think Chicago had a high below 10ยฐF. We're forecast to have a high of 19ยฐF next Wednesday, really cold for early December. Probably Midwestern cold moving east?

In 2013 we had a very mild December tho I think you're mixing up Decembers; it was rather cold most of that December I remember that December, it was definitely above average. 2013 was a bit above average, while 2014 was wayyyy above average. And then 2015 was like wayyyyyyyyyy above average. This cold December is definitely a bit of a surprise, since December is one of the months that seems to have really been impacted by climate change Typical year here past few years: Winter - Mild start, starts to turn a bit chillier around New Years, cold comes barreling in February or March Spring - Extremely cloudy, cold, and dreary, full of nasty weather. Sometime in May it flips from 50F directly to 85F Summer - Starts off dry and mild. Looks like a lame summer until you reach August Fall - To make up for a crappy June-July, September becomes the new July. Tons of 80F-90F days. Extremely mild Octobers with tons of 70F days. November that is generally mild but finishes around average cause of one or two cold snaps

All Decembers since I started paying interest to weather have been as warm as this year's November. And Umeรฅ hasn't had a white christmas since 2012 IIRC. Certainly makes this kind of weather we've had recently seem grotesquely below average even though November as a whole was pretty average and December is average so far as well. I don't think we'll be able to melt this snowcover until spring. The snowpack would've started around the 20th of November in that case, which is over a month earlier than the last four or five years. Still, I think it isn't supposed to be that uncommon.

Same pattern perhaps In 2013 we had a very mild December tho We had a least 10 days of snow cover and several snow events just in that month... however, I am aware that the largest snow event (Sunday, December 8, 2013) hit us but not the NY region. It was blizzard like conditions. We ended up with about a foot of snow. That was when the Eagles played the Snow Bowl. But I remember the Jets I think we're playing at the Meadowlands and there no snow... so perhaps that month is not too remarkable to you, but it is to us down here! And the rest of the winter.. early 2014, was very cold and snowy for us

Quite a decent snowfall predicted for the North GA mountains (forecast from Blairsville, GA) with 4-7" of snow predicted (10-18 cm). Quite a few nights in the teens with highs in the 30s in the forecast as well, so the snow will likely stick around for several days as well.

Same pattern perhaps Is the snow you're talking about the snowfall of November 2013? Because in the case it was more of Western/Northern TX that got snow rather than Southern and Eastern TX like in this case.

0.2โ (0.5 cm) of snow fell this morning...and of course melted before I got up. For the season so far thereโs 3.2โ (8 cm) of snow, well below average. Just 1 day has had a snow depth of more than a trace and that was over a month ago. Itโs so annoying how we get very little snow in November and December when I want a lot of snow and then we get hammered with snowfall in February and March when I want little to no snow

The snow closed over 200 schools in Wales today, and it's forecast to be heavier on Sunday. Hopefully they're right.
