Look how far south the winter weather advisories go in Texas! Remind me of the winter storm at the beginning of February in 2011, where it snowed as far south as Tampico, Mexico, at a tropical latitude at sea level! Good chance at seeing frozen precip in the FL Panhandle as well tomorrow night/Saturday morning. Widespread snow down there today. Everywhere from San Antonio to Austin to Houston got a couple of inches. College Station (Texas A&M) got 6" ! Meanwhile... might get the first 1-2" in NYC this weekend. Wow, 6" is quite a good effort for Southern TX! Do you know where I can get official storm reports for areas in South TX? Would be interesting to see what the biggest accumulation is.

You know, this is reminding me of 2013... I remember quite well the snow on this date 4 years ago. Then, too, Texas got snow a few days before us... then we got hammered with snow. Same pattern perhaps Is the snow you're talking about the snowfall of November 2013? Because in the case it was more of Western/Northern TX that got snow rather than Southern and Eastern TX like in this case. Well, one other key difference is December 8, 2013 was a clipper system, which this obviously isn't. Originally supposed to get about 1 inch back then, and ended up with about a foot. 4-6 inches now predicted for my area. I was supposed to go to a Ukrainian Christmas bazaar tomorrow with family, but that's looking very doubtful now.

Interesting how it's on the same exact date.

But you can find some stats and maps in this article: www.wunderground.com/news/2017-12-08-unusual-south-texas-snow-winter-storm-benjiNot sure if reports are official, but gives a good idea. Maybe the most impressive stat is the 7" that apparently fell near Corpus Christi at 27N ! But, that's very unofficial, and extremely localized if true.

Looks like we'll be getting our first notable snowfall of the season tomorrow. Some flakes have flown, but nothing substantial. NWS is currently forecasting 1-3 inches for tomorrow. The local resort has the snow guns ablazin!

NWS Corpus Christi has observer reported storm reports here forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=CRP&product=LSR&issuedby=CRPCorpus Christi had a daily mean of 76°F on the 4th; 39.5°F yesterday.

And Umeå hasn't had a white christmas since 2012 IIRC. That is crazy considering your Decembers average a solid -4,4°C and are preceded by Novembers that are also normally below freezing. I thought we had it bad.

More coastal suburbs or Umeå have lost their snow cover. Let's see if Umeå does as well, though I would assume not even though there's 18mm of rain today.

I guess the snowpack could be varying because of the violent winds yesterday, but on the field right outside our house it's about 40-50cm deep, which is nornally the maximum thickness of the year. To have that in the beginning of December is really something else. 18mm of rain in the city today, and all that falling as snow in Tavelsjö.

Winter storms are the best...78F right now with 20 Mph winds and foreboding grey skies. About an hour or two until the squall line gets here.

Very dark morning, waiting for the snow. Forecast totals raised to 4-6 inches. Can see it's a coastal storm; western part of the state is getting less snow
Rain / snow line looks like in southeast Massachusetts in Plymouth; Cape Cod is getting little. Not that warm in the winter, but in a bad spot to get snow.

Down to 26F (-3.3C) here this morning.
Yesterday's snow didn't stick around long unfortunately. The temp got up to and stayed around 40F (4.4C) yesterday afternoon with a bit of sun.

Here's are maps Cambium posted showing snow amounts. Looks like Alexandria got 2.1", a little more than I thought. Baton Rouge shows 3.5". Jealous of Mississippi. The first map doesn't show snow that fell in Texas on Thursday.
