Current precipitation. Odd for January. This is the kind of graupel we normally get in March-May

an even better image of the snowpack decline in the White Mountains. The summits actually lost more snow than the peaks. Fog added to the melt There's actually more snow at the bottom of the mountain and on neighboring peaks that weren't in the fog than those that werehttp://instagram.com/p/Bd96tYlnHYM the brown that the high peaks get in the winter and spring when the snow is gone is rather ugly, IMO. Was disappointed when I hiked in late March last year and it was more brown than white despite wintry temperatures.

A second snowfall event of this winter is looking fairly likely here tomorrow. NAM model is now showing about 2 inches falling. NWS LCH is calling for less than an inch of snow/sleet accumulation. I'm under a winter weather advisory and a wind chill advisory.

Not really, Seattle gets 48F highs as average this point of year. So a cold blast like that woudln't be apocalyptic, but it would be a step in the right direction

Temps look to hover in the mid 30s with some lingering precip and NW flow. Average high/low is 42/32F at this time of year.

Believe it or not, but the Pacific Northwest actually had a cold winter last year (especially Protland), and Seattle was below average this December. No more Blob-fueled winters anymore. Hopefully you guys get a solid winter month in February

Here it's the opposite, feels like winters are getting more extreme (look at 13/14 and 14/15 for example) but summers are getting warmer. Last cold summer was 2009, altho 2014 was just average

YASSSSS the raised the forecasts even higher! Gonna get 30F+ highs from Friday on! Average high is about 28F at the airport this point of year, so this is gonna be a nice sustained above average pattern for the first time in a while. GFS is predicting a sexy Cold West/Warm East pattern for the end of the month
