Snowing here right now for second time this winter. Accumulating a bit. Nice. About how much are you expecting? I measured about 3/4 an inch of snow accumulation, maybe about half of what I got with the snow event in December (though it's sticking around longer). One round of snow came in the morning, then a second round came in the afternoon. Unfortunately I had to go into work this afternoon, so I didn't really get to enjoy the second round. 26F (-3.3C) as of 6 PM with wind chill of 15F (-9.4C). NWS is forecasting 16F (-8.9C) tonight with wind chills down between 2 to 6F (-16.7 to -14.4C)! TWC is calling for low of 12F (-11.1C) tonight. It hasn't been above freezing since 7 AM and may not get back above freezing until tomorrow afternoon.

Oh, what do you know? It seems the Bothnia gulf is doing really well for ice cover. I would've thought there would be a 10km ice sheet along the coast or something after the clear skies. Thiugh now that I think of it, Umeรฅ only had two frigid days compared to Tavelsjรถ's 5. I mean, Ariete would probably make you believe the whole sea would be covered bu now

^93 cm at Bjรธrnholt (360 m) in Oslo. Yeah, the intense snowfall is not common there. Snow cover is common, but the intensity in the snowfall is not. I was in Oslo yesterday, and the flight was delayed due to snow clearing at Oslo Airport. Talked to a taxi driver in Oslo, who said the snow was a little fun to navigate. Some smaller roads had not been cleared. And of course, the taxi driver was surprised that Trondheim had blue skies while the snow was falling in Oslo.

Today's low was 12F (-11.1C) which looks like the coldest here since 1989, when it reached 9F (-12.8C)!
The high today was 34F (1.1C) with full sun. Yesterday would have been an ice day if not for the early morning hours. Back in January 2014 we had 3 ice days.
Forecast low tonight of 17F (-8.3C).

I imagine some small ponds and creeks have frozen over?

Looks like we're in the center of cold right now. Wonder why? Probably due to snow cover? There were some very impressive lows in KY this morning, including -14 F (-26 C) in Monticello, -7 F (-22 C) in London and -5 F (-21 C) in Somerset! Seems the cold is centered in the south-central part of the state with this cold snap.

4th coldest January on record in Indianapolis, records going back to 1872
Tied for the 6th coldest January on record in St Louis. The records go back to 1874
Tied for 7th coldest January in LaGuardia
I do think the month will get a bit warmer as time goes on, but this is still a month for the ages

THIS is the most impressive one. This is only 40-50 miles north of Tampa mind you) Orlando: 28 F (-2 C !!!) Tampa: 29 F (-2 C!!) Lakeland: 25 F (-4 C ) Sebring: 27 F (-3 C) Okeechobee: 28 F (-2 C) As you can see, the Panhandle didn't quite get as cold as forecasted, but peninsular Florida had some very impressive lows!
