I thought the Hebrides would get ice days from time to time. No chance of a nationwide ice day happening in France under the current climate. For example Cannes has never recorded an ice day.
Our last ice day was actually last winter. The temp stayed comfortably below freezing, with a -2.6ยฐC high. None this winter so far, today was the coldest at 0.2ยฐC.

Seems this cold spell is going to end on Friday... How often do you see forecasts like this for your location? Those last 2 days of no diurnal range in a row, the first day is rather extreme in its range too, but I saw a few those in northern New Hampshire around the spring equinox when I was there

Does not happen often, especially on straight days

Where I live (or at least where the weather station is) 19C diurnals can only happen in spring and then only just, maybe a 19/0 in April or something, but the Fri/Sat are basically the same as the last two days here: 5th February 1.2/-1.2, 6th February -0.2/-1.5.
Our lowest diurnal range happened in December 1995: -0.9/-1.0. It was 100% humidity all day as well so I'm guessing freezing fog that didn't lift.

^^ Interesting stat. I wonder when Norway last had a national ice day, if it has happened at all. It has now been over a month (32 days) since Vancouver last recorded a freeze. The average low for the period hovers around 0C. Not sure if we've ever gone longer in winter without a freeze. Even the epic torch winter of '14-15 had various freezes in Jan and Feb. Also, we're now up to 22 consecutive days with rain. Terrible performance for the latitude. I feel for you, we just went through a 37-day long freeze-free streak in Paris, straddling over December, January and February. Wow! Although I'd imagine it is not as anomalous for you guys as it is for us. Rumors the SSW may send in waves of arctic air into western NA. I am cautiously optimistic, but it would really be par for the course if it affected the east as per usual these days.

It really was anomalous, in fact it was the first January ever without any freeze at Orly airport.

Winter Storm Warning in effect from 4AM to 9PM tomorrow with 4-7 inches of snow and a tenth of an inch of ice forecast.
NWS Mount Holly's discussion for tomorrow. Events like this must be difficult to forecast:

Got up to 69F (20.6C) here today and stayed mostly overcast. Could get a good bit of rain tonight thru tomorrow, and possibly t-storms with some hail threat - under a marginal severe risk. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler with temps dropping below 50F (10C) by daytime.

An interesting mix of freezing rain, sleet, small hail, and lightning in north TX, southeast OK this evening.

Hoping for a mammoth storm tonight. 10 inches in Queens was enough to cancel schools for the day. I'm guessing a nice 10-incher would cancel classes for a day or two? Hopefully we get pounded with 10+ inches, we haven't taken ten inches in quite a while

Seems this cold spell is going to end on Friday... How often do you see forecasts like this for your location? Nice, that thaw is gonna feel balmy. It once went from -27ยฐC to 0ยฐC overnight here, felt like spring had sprung just like that.

After that very mild and rainy crapfest in December and January I was hoping for a mild February as well, so that we get an early spring at least. But the sunny 0 ยฐC weather today absolutely disproves my wishes. So much better than rain and 10 ยฐC!

Positive anomalies still on board for February 10th on! 5C with rain predicted on February 10th, which is not my favorite weather at all, but should be a good relief from this streak of below-freezing temperatures

That sucks! This cold blast seems more centered on the Midwest, that's why. Look at Toronto's forecast too, they're not getting a warmup at all

The Southeast Ridge seems a lot more powerful this year than in 2015, so even with a split polar vortex I doubt we will get a repeat of that March

Up to 24 consecutive days with rain now with rain falling on 34 of the past 35 days. This is pure hell.
It wouldn't be so bad if temps were around normal as the mountains would get snow. Unfortunately, we've been stuck in a warm/wet pattern of late; consequently, the local mountain snowpack has been decemated.
