This puts the cloudiness of the first half of April 2018 into perspective:
Leeming (nearest place I can get running totals of monthly sun data): 24.6 hours in 15 days
The dullest April on record in Bradford (nearest place I can get historic sun data, Bradford's roughly 10% duller than Leeming as well): 75.0 hours in 1941. Plus Bradford's sun totals in April 1941 will have been affected by pollution (all the dullest Aprils are from the 1920s-40s), nowadays it's rare to get under 100 hours.
Even if we get average sun in the second half of April this could still be the dullest April in recent history.

The UK has been freezing for the past 2 months, so it's about time for some above average temps.

The forecast says 112 hours to the 29th, but that is still terrible for April.

Or days of no sun with one or two days of sun.

Having some good storms here right now, not quite as strong as I wanted, but still getting some heavy rain, wind and good deal of lightning strikes. This rainfall is extremely beneficial.

Freezing rain last night wasnโt ideal April weather but at least the trees looked pretty with all the ice on them today.
Finally some high 50s with sun showing up at the end of the 10-day!!! An end to the pattern? Probably not...A small respite? Most likely...Forecasting error that will get downgraded? Pretty likely.

Not really a heat wave, more like "seasonable wave". Seems warmer than it actually is because the upcoming week looks like absolute garbage, anything will look good compared to cloudy 40F bullshit

Awesome windy day here at 38F with intermittent rain. If only it could stay like this through June.
Whole next week looking to stay bewteen 40-60F, not ideal but not too bad either, given the past 2 days.

Could there be a light at the end of the tunnel this weekend heading next week? Euro model showing a nice warmup this weekend with SUN. GFS holds off the warmup until next week. Seems like it will just be a more unstable pattern with periods of cold and warm, but ffs, anything better than the six weeks of extreme cold we've had at this point

REALLY REALLY REALLY SHITTY WEATHER TODAY. Itโs rained non-stop with 1.31โ (33 mm) falling with temps between 38 and 42 (3-5 C).
Looks like 40s and rain until Friday, a cool but sunny weekend and then FINALLY some low 60s and sun to start next week.
Highly doubt the warm spellโI mean average spellโwill last more than 3-5 days and Itโll take a miracle to avoid being the first April in 28 years not to hit 70 (21 C).
14 of 15 nights have dropped below freezing so far and itโs been averaging 45.1/28.7 (7.3/-1.8 C). Thatโs barely warmer than February was!
Fucking ANCHORAGE is averaging warmer than us so far this month.

Got a good soaking rain today with over an inch falling. Sun actually came out for a little while this afternoon but then it clouded up and started raining again. Chilly day tomorrow with a forecast high of only 48 F/9 C. Rest of the week is looking seasonable.

What's more, there's the possibility of another major cold outbreak in the first week of May. Meanwhile, northwest US and western Canada are progged to see spring-like weather arrive in earnest. My stationโs recorded 113.2 sunshine hours so far this month, according to Weathercloud. This month has felt pretty regular in terms of sunny/cloudy days.
