Umm... wonder what’s causing that in the model?

Pareeee's weather has maded up here. Last octa recorded on 8 May at 16:50. Kind of worried though, as FMI forecasts only partly clear conditions tomorrow afternoon. Our streak lasted 98 hours, with 4 consecutive 13h+ days. Let's see if you can beat it this time. Don't think it'd be remarkable for Turku anyway. Had we been able to keep the first 10 days' rate, May would have potentially clocked 350+ hours of bright sun. Won't happen though.

I think we will not, as there's certainly some cloud tomorrow. But well, the summer is young still.

Clouds were unable to form, and thus no octas. Next cloud ETA at noon on Sunday.

Sunday is Mother's Day in most of the world, including Finland and Estonia, and we're up for a real scorcher!
GFS 2m temps, wide 28C+ areas:
I call BS, but in the Viipuri region there's a small area of 31C!
It would also be awesome if Lappeenranta would record a 31C high and Kilpisjärvi like 2C!
edit: Monday looks even hotter. I of course hope this realises, but I'm feeling a bit sceptical for even a single station hitting above 29C:

I mean, it's not impossible, the first ever 30C since 1961 was recorded on the 19th, but, we'll see...
Lappeenranta Konnunsuo peat sink had quite an AW dream climate diurnal range: 24.2C high, -0.8C low. Konnunsuo holds the June and September records for highest daily range in the country.

We haven't had oktas since like 02:00 (or something like that) on the 9th. In March we had a 11-13 day streak without a single recorded oktas IIRC.

You win! We had 10% clouds an hour ago, the first okta since like 02.00 the 9th. So like 90h

It's been pretty dry in the SE U.S. lately. Hardly any rain over the past two weeks over a fairly large area. FL, AL, and GA should get a good bit of rainfall over the next week, but doesn't look like much in Louisiana at this time. I'm hoping there won't be a similar trend this summer.

Highs 20°F below average in Massachusetts and then warmer up in northern Vermont cause there's more sun. Clouds today: 850 hPa temperatures are the same or a bit colder there, but need clouds to keep the surface chilly. Some instability right at the border of the warm / cool air masses

No rain expected in the drought stricken southwest. Looks pretty bad in part of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas as well.
