The weekend before last and the last week: 6 July bike ride near the airport: Glorious meadow: Back towards a small settlement: Fjällskär (High Mountain Islet) 10 km inland on a flat field? Random... E4 freeway, standing above it. Fair to say the drought has affected the middle: 9/7: Post-sunset light at 10:15 pm on top of a hill: Older part of town looking towards the former castle: River area: Seagull: Highrise beyond the trees by the river: 10:30 pm looking towards the town centre: 10/7: Bike ride to the village of Lid: Lake view looking back: Entering the village: Red houses and proof of how far away from home it was: Gravel? PLEASE NO Horrible gravel road with sharp stones but still a great view: Even worse here, but the alley road was pretty picturesque: Rolling hills again: ASPHALT! Can't credit the church with that though, sorry: Runtuna again: Svärta, a classic turning point for winter bike rides while I was a teen:

Prerty cool morning fog in Gävle on the train to Stockholm. Woofer slept well on the train Area where we stayed at her dad's. Every single oak tree in the area is wilted in one degree or another. Some looked so wilted that they looked like they were flowering. Daytime: Midnight: Very dark. The combination of darkness and shorts weather is very subtropique to me as a 64°N resident. We had noctilucent clouds for two nights in a row. They were cooler the first night, but my phone was dead from the Sheeran consert so I couldn't take photos. We found a very wealthy suburbia. You cannot find a house in Stockholm for less than about 700k €, and these were either large and/or fancy, and had respectable to huge yards. Most of these houses were probably 1.5m €. Fall! Drove to Vaxholm, an islet in the beginning od the Stockholm Archipelago. Looked like September-October in many places. Not the most amazing park I've seen. Kinda cool church and churchtower. Their shopping street. A castle with the sea as its moat. We went swimming in the Mälaren lake, but first we jogged a bit. This area remindeded me a little of France with the hot weather and dry soil yet lush vegetation. Fancy house. This one too. Not looking French anymore though. Mälaren was very warm. Would equate it to mid June in Greece. The open sea is up to 23'C in the day, so Mälaren should be 24-25'C. People were sun bathing on dark cliffs in 33'C. Are they fucking mad? This seagull kid was sleeping literally in the middle of a street. Close to the Sheeran consert. Didn't know Stockholm had this many highrise-ish buildings. Street next to the train station home.

Some photos from Northern Norway / Arctic Norway this week.
I was unlucky and got ill with som virus or something. So when I had time to go for a mountain hike, I was still recovering, so had to scale down my ambitions compared to original plan for this day.
This day was warm and sunny in the Narvik region (68°N+), ca 26°C when I parked the car and started the hike at ca 40 m ASL.
First hiking uphill through forest towards the mountain
Dense undergrowth 1 m tall, but there is a pathl Further up, a lage anthill almost blocked the path.
Very steep further on, got very hot. This place was the steepest, must have been like 80 degrees angle here- but the ladders made it easy. Although did not want any horse flies to bite me half way up the ladder
Having gained almost 500 m elevation in a short distance
Flies in front of my camera, they could smell me sweating a lot, had a huge number of flies around me
Reached the largest lake here, which is 520 m ASL, and much larger than can be seen from this spot. Lost battery on camery so from now iphone images. But with these light conditions they should be ok.
Noticed many small birch tree saplings, not noticed those before up here
Then over several ridges and a different path down. Met a ptarmigan, which I got on video. Had only 1 l to drink with me, was far too little.
Total hike ca 12 km.

Nidaros 26C is pretty hot for that area. Yes, far above average, and the high that day was 28C. The next day got into crazy territory with high 32C.
I also have fjord photos from my trip far north this July, if anyone would like to see that.

Ongoing thunderstorm, with a lot of thunders just on the other side of the mountain in front of us. ^ the black thing on the left side of the picture is my window, which decided to close more or less in that moment because of a wind gust.

Corn. First picture is July 7, second is July 17. The high spots are almost 2.5m high, much higher than I remember for this time of year. May was warm and wet, June was warm and wet, that must be why. July has been warm but dry so far. The corn is starting to show on the second photo.

Northern Norway's fjords, many of you call this Arctic Norway fjords as this is inside the Arctic Circle.
I took these images earlier this week, in the early evening.
The climate along this fjord is subarctic (Dfc) with mean ca -4c in Jan, three months at 10c+, annual mean nearly 4c. The fjord never freezes in winter, but some minor fjord arms might freeze over.
