I'm sorry if I'm being repetitive. I can never have any issues with an Arctic sky during high-pressure sunsets like that Amazing snaps!

I think these are hornbeams. I like them. Mostly because they're green. And for anybody wondering, this is what the sun looks like at 12.00. And I'm not sure if the ground is covered with frost or snow. It's a few millimeters thick and last night was a cold clear sky night, and I don't know if there was snow or not before that in this part of Umeå. The sun is five fingers off the ground at an arm's length for reference.

I thought you were a cross-country coach? Should easily be out in nature a bunch?

At least you have snow to brighten up the darkness a little bit. We'll likely get ours next week.

Here's a video of one of the waterspouts last Friday, taken by fishermen working on the tuna pen fish farm in St. Paul's Bay...

The main lake of Tavelsjö, Tavelsjön (Painting lake). Not frozen. Although among the reeds the water has started to freeze. A valiant effort of these dandelions although I'm not sure it's gonna end well for them.

Nice, does your area ever get fall colors? When do the deciduous trees lose their leaves? How many of your broadleaf trees are evergreen? There was a ****ty aurora yesterday. It was basically justba cloud that was slightly green. Looked like when there are clouds during otherwise clear nights that get lit up by the stars so that they're slightly brighter than the sky. There wasn't even a corona. This is the same image but edited to look as close to the naked eye as possible.

We're in a high pressure system now, and it's started to get really cold. -13'C here. You could almost be fooled into thinking there's a bunch of foliage, but no, it's just sun. Brrr! This cannot have been anything but cold. Apparently the sun can do stuff still. And man do I like that tree. In the spring it was among the first to bear leaves, and in the fall it's got these tiny brilliantly red berries making it look completely red from afar and up close, and it's also got a very cool branch structure. Green trees, red trees and a space ship next to an old building. Bravery or stupidity to try to fight the cold? The airport recorded -12'C this morning, the university -7'C. These were completely green and healthy a week ago but the cold got to them. Bits of ice have started flowing down the river. Upstream it's been winter for a while now. And I've seen bridges and trampolines keeping off frost beneath them, but this must be the strangest frost repellant I've seen.

They'll turn off heating in my apartment for two hours this afternoon for "measurements" in the cellar, thank heavens it's not -13°C outside! Looks beautiful though You seem to have a very sunny November Babu? Here too, but up there it seems rather extreme compared to normality!

Looks beautiful though You seem to have a very sunny November Babu ? Here too, but up there it seems rather extreme compared to normality! Idk, many hours are lost due to terrain. It's been pretty sunny though I wouldn't call it extreme. The average is 45h for the month, and considering terrain obstruction, that's a lot of clear days. If you want you can look up the open data for the sun hours so far here. Btw, a really odd phenomenon that I can't explain is Tavelsjö really consistently seems to be getting way more clear nights than days. Anecdotally it seems to me like 30-60% more nights are clear in Tavelsjö compared to Umeå even though the days are similarily sunny.

I'm so jealous, our next week's cold snap got downgraded, highs will likely stay above freezing so it will be a slushy mess. Can't wait for similar temps.
