The entire premise of 10°C being the mean for "summer" is ludicrous. That must've been affirmative action for Kiruna or something. By my definition: <0°C: Swedish winter 0.1-14.9°C: Swedish spring/autumn >15°C: Swedish summer Then Kiruna gets a summer for maybe a week in July only. There's no need to pretend that May and September are summer months down here. June, July and August pass the 15°C thresholds though, the latter two easily. Babu , do you think that definition is representative? Of course that means a shorter summer in Umeå, but that's just the meteorological truth since it does receive June frosts every now and then.
For Nyköping that would result in something like or near this on average:
Winter: 10 Dec-10 Mar Spring: 10 Mar-10 June Summer: 10 June-5 Sep Autumn: 5 Sep-10 Dec
In other words close to 3/3/3/3.

I think 18'C highs for 5 days is an okay summer definition for Sweden.

I think 18'C highs for 5 days is an okay summer definition for Sweden. That could still render overnight frosts in some inland areas during May. So it doesn't work at all in real terms. Means are way superior to highs as a seasonal measurement.
For me, the important thing would be to have the past seven days average above 15°C means. The day that starts, is the starting date for summer.

A 18/-2'C day is going to be like 5-10'C bt 6am in Sweden, so whether there was a frost at 2 am doesn't really matter for your perception of summerlike weather.

So with this new Swedish definition, summer in Renmark has been redefined as 00:00 Jan 1 to 23:59 Dec 31. Quality of life improved.
Looks like the folks at SMHI are smoking some body temperature-elevating brand of crack. Pene' de Herp.

Interesting weather today. It was up to 65 F/18 C by 7AM. Didn't really get light out until after 8 with the dark clouds. Balmy and cloudy all day and now heavy rain.
Wind Advisory tomorrow afternoon with gusts up to 45 MPH possible and back to the cold tomorrow night with a forecast low of 34 F/1 C.

Those arbitrary "it hasn't been below 10 C for so and so consecutive days" thresholds are fucking stupid. How do they come up this thershoold, like if "we get 6 days of 10°C it's still summer, but 7 is too much?". It must all exactly be in a row, one outlier with a 11°C day means the count is reset. Some guy sitting in an office has a job to come up these random stats? How's the start of summer defined then? Lol, I also wonder that. Sounds like a horrible, boring, tedious job. I honestly hate these random, silly, pointless "thresholds". I'm assuming that the start of summer has the same stupid threshold "first seven consecutive 10 C means". That means summer lasts like six months in Southern Sweden. Sounds about right.

13°C is used for the summer threshold here which would be more accurate for southern Sweden as well.

Please just stop. It’s not summer in mid October in Sweden!!!!!!
I know you like to pretend Sweden is warmer than it is but don’t be a fucking .
Rochester is warmer than anywhere in Sweden in mid October and it doesn’t come close to resembling summer at that point.
Take that threshold and shove it up your ass.

If you think it's stupid, then why the hell do you keep posting it? To show that it's stupid? And it's also climatic data. "Apparently it's still still summer in southernmost Sweden..." was meant as a You posted it and commented it like it's a fact. It's not exactly clear that you think it's stupid. Most people when they think something is stupid, post the image and say something along the lines of "wow, this is fucking idiotic".
