Lmao, NWS says a thunderstorm this evening. They add in a T-storm chance a few times a winter and there has NEVER been a winter storm. There was one in November 2017 and we usually get some starting in April, none in between. Donโt know why they bother forecasting them.
A downpour brought 0.26โ (7 mm) earlier, now itโs cleared up. Another mild day with a high of 46 (8 C).
Last mild day for a while, cold snap starting tomorrow, probably 1-2 highs in the upper 10s. Looks like weโre entering an average to somewhat below average pattern for awhile, hope that means the warmth returns for February and March.

Back-to-back 65ยฐF days in January! Full sun right now. Would be perfect if it werenโt so windy. Jealous, here it's in the 40s and cloudy

Felt like April today; temp over-achieved getting up to 78F... Nearly reached the previous daily record of 79F.
A front is coming thru. Tomorrow's forecast high is 58F which is near normal.

It's been fiercely windy the last few days in Saskatoon. Last couple of mornings were around -17C temperature with -30C windchill, not very pleasant. I don't mind for a few days at a time but I'm sure glad we've got much warmer temperatures in the forecast, wouldn't want weeks on end of this.

Well the snowstorm last night was pretty underwhelming. The airport recorded 5.9โ (15 cm) as of 6 AM, near the low end of the forecast.
The airport was also the snowiest place in the county (at least according to the spotters), looks like only 3-4โ (8-12 cm) here.
Oh well, still a decent fall and thereโs a nice bright white covering of snow.
Pretty windy today with 20-25 mph winds and 35 mph gusts, wind chill around 10 f (-12 C).

I don't know if I trust the accuracy of these maps. Via ski resorts, mountain cams, and traffic cams the Laurel Highlands have about a foot of snow cover right now and it's in the 1 to 2" range on that map. My backyard has 2" and it's in the light blue

nei See what I mean? There's no way Mount Porte Crayon has .39-2" of snow cover if it received 12-18" over the last 2 days

So the storm total at the airport was 7.3โ (18 cm), actually pretty good. More like 4-6โ fell here though.
Yesterday was the first below average day since December 18th, ending a run of 22 straight above average days.
Today dropped to 11 (-12 C), the lowest temperature since November 23rd

Some models have the eastern US going off the deep end in the next 2 to 3 weeks. This would be near all time record cold for me, approaching -30F. GFS isn't quite as nuts as the CFS. Will be interesting to see it play out. #SST
