We'll have to wait one more day to get the official data, but it looks like February 2019 is gonna end up being one of the coldest months ever recorded in Saskatoon. Unfortunately we got up to -5C yesterday, other than that we had not risen above -10.6C a single time all month, which would have been the second coldest monthly record high that I'm aware of if it weren't for yesterday's warmup, so that's definitely a bit disappointing to lose that record so close to the end However this will still end up as a seriously impressive month, with 13 days having lows below -30C and 22 days with lows below -25C. Our current mean for the month (which will warm up slightly, with yesterday's data currently being absent and all of today left in the month) is -25C, an amazing 12C below average!

We got 6.5β (17 cm) of snow yesterday, bringing us close to normal for the month.
Today is beautifulβcold, sunny and with nice fresh snow.
Forecast is horrible though, Monday to Wednesday all have highs near or below 20 f and thereβs no sign of 40s, let alone 30s anytime soon after Saturday.
This will likely be the 6th cold March out of 7, although hopefully warmth comes the second half.

Epic streak here in UmeΓ₯. Sadly tomorrow isn't going to manage the 7th consecutive spring day, so winter will continue for at least a couple weeks more it seems. But I mean, it doesn't really feel like spring because the sun isn't high enough that it feels springlike despite the snow. Had the snow been gone, or the sun higher, it would feel like spring though.

The low sun angle is a bit unusual coming from 35Β°N, but the sun is still higher than it was six weeks ago, so...

you have to go back to 2011 to find so much sea ice in the barents sea at this date. svalbard has been very cold recently. perhaps this month will even be below the 61-90 average there? the forecast looks far below average. the bering sea is almost ice free, though...
