Today was one of those rare days where it was both very cold and cloudy. It started off mostly clear in the morning when it was -32C but then went up to -24C in the afternoon and became fully overcast. Quite cold. Usually when it gets into the -15C to -20C range it starts to be bright and sunny, but not today...
Also the winter dryness is starting to get to me. The dew point was -35C when I left for work this morning, my hands and lips are cracked and patches of itchy dry skin are popping up all over my body at random. Going through lots of moisturizer but it still isn't enough to fend off this dryness. Bring on a warmup and more humidity!

Some warm nights over the last week but lower afternoon humidity - dewpoints mostly in the 18-22 C range. Quite bad pollution in the mornings that seems to ease in the afternoon (AQI around 100-200).

Γlvsbyn has had quite the cold weather the last few days... Same at UmeΓ₯ airport. Keep in mind that the high is up until 11am, so it will undoubtedly be a lot warmer than that. For me personally, the coldest I've experienced at my place was -19.7'C on the 18th in the evening, and last night it was at least -21'C in the local valley when biking home from my friend's place. It was around 22.00 during which the airport read -23.8'C. Only about -17'C up where I live though. Things are getting quite static now with the dry weather. My lips are pretty chapped too...

Thunderstorms came thru overnight last night; more intense than expected with tornado & severe warnings to my north. I heard a good bit of thunder but didn't bother to get up and watch it. I measured 1.34" of rain.
Temp 60F as of 9 AM but supposed to drop to the 40's this afternoon and a low of 30F tonight.

Heavy snow should be starting in an hour or two. Current snow total forecast is 16-28β!
Not as cold as last yearβs cold snap, but Monday is still forecast at 9/-3 which is still very cold (at least the high).
Nice variability too, could not break 10 on Monday then be in the 40s on Wednesday.

5.7β has fallen as of 7 PM, itβs 10 PM now and probably pushing ~8β.
Another 16-28β is still forecast to come by Monday!
The roads are a fucking nightmare, I was going 15 mph on a 40 mph road and it took me 30 fucking minutes to go 4 miles.
It it was completely deserted too, going down my towns biggest road, I was in the middle of the road creeping along at 15 mph and I saw 1 other car the whole drive.
I was supposed to be at a party until late at night but after the ordeal getting there, nobody wanted to brave even worse roads at 1 AM, so I was only there a few hours.
Epic storm.

Meanwhile here the snow that has fallen is about to get washed away by heavy rain. Just a little too far south for this one. Tomorrow night...forecast low of 4 F/-16 C. This is mother nature's way of fucking around with snow lovers lol.

Γlvsbyn is continuing to have extremely cold weather. 4 days in a row have broken the seasonal record low. This its location, so it's not in the far north or in the mountains like Nikkaluokta, Karesuando etc. It's not even above the arctic circle and only 50km from the sea.

The airport picked up 7.8β (20 cm) of snow yesterday.
As of 7 AM (5 hours ago), another 5.6β (14 cm) has fallen this morning.
The NWS is forecasting another 6-11β to fall by Monday.
This means we should end up with a storm total between 20-30β.

Supposed to drop from the 50βs (10C+) to 8Β°F (-13C) here tonight, single digits are rarely achieved without snowcover so weβll see.

Temperature ended up not rising above freezing overnight so we got a nice glaze of ice. Precipitation has ended. Not sure how much snow we got...maybe 3-4 inches or so. Took well over an hour to dig out my car. Temp is now up to 35 F/2 C with a windchill of 27 F/-3 C.
Windchill Advisory in effect tonight into tomorrow with windchills possibly dropping down to -20 F/-29 C. Winds may gust to 45 MPH.
Forecast low of 3 F/-16 C tonight and a high of only 11 F/-12 C tomorrow.

The GFS has been fairly consistent at showing at least some snow for northwest LA mid-week, so I'm thinking something could materialize. And maybe some additional shots at getting something over the next couple of weeks. The latest GFS run showing best amounts of the day so far.
