No snow in NYC, all rain. And a fast temperature crash as forecast. Storm track was a bit more inland bringing more rain and further inland, more ice than originally forecast

moist air mass with the storm warmed up Mt. Washington followed by a temperature crash. Not that windy yet, should start blasting soon

extremely windy tonight in NYC; 50 mph gusts and 11ยฐF at sunrise tomorrow. Squally enough for knot ? steep pressure gradients tonight. Cold blown in by sunrise. Except for the coast, very little north-south temperature difference. Southern Quebec isn't much colder very cold late afternoon temperatures in the mid single digits in New England. Warm air is already making upstate NY warmer, shortlived cold blast

Current Mount Washington temperatures. Strange how the wind still hasn't picked up. Temperature and pressure contrast is just further south in southern New England. Berlin, NH in the valleys is reporting -6ยฐF and snow. This guy in the Green Mountains reported snow at even colder temperatures

18F as a high in Washignton is nuts. Not sure what is more impressive, the high in Washington or Boston

Storm total snowfall so far (at the airport)
1/19: 7.8โ 1/20: 8.2โ 1/21: 0.5โ as of 7 AM
Total: 16.5โ
A pretty good fall but disappointing given the forecasts. We were supposed to get 16-28โ, so this is at the very low end of the range.
And last night, we were supposed to get another 3-7โ which didnโt happen. It snowed pretty heavily here last night so I bet we got more than the airport but still a disappointment.
It dropped to -2 (-19 C) last night with a wind chill as low as -21 (-29 C). Iโm hoping today doesnโt break 10...

extremely windy tonight in NYC; 50 mph gusts and 11ยฐF at sunrise tomorrow. Squally enough for knot ? Interesting that the forecast said 11. We actually dropped to 4 at KNYC, even beating Boston where it was 5! LGA dropped to 5, JFK to 5, TEB to 4, and EWR to 4. The peak wind chills seemed to be -16 to -18 in all areas, though I'm definitely dressed a bit more liberally than when it was actually -18 in Yellowknife.
In any case, it seems to be the best weather of the season today. Gotta get out there and enjoy it while it lasts!

-20.3C now. First sub -20C for the winter! This is the point when I say enough with the severeness of the cold. Thank you and maybe next year again. Tomorrow will be very cold, but on Wednesday the high will climb again to around -1C. Those poor jacarandas, oranges, Norfolk pines etc
