From Kentucky to Florida and back will always be an interesting contrast at this time of year, how cold are you guys forecast to get this upcoming week? Just north of you will be brutal.

Is there a way to look up the lowest temp in the area easily for the US? Better than going through stations? Here is the NWS summary for this morning. Very cold. Lots of -30C lows. Some must be daily records, even close to all-time lows. The -22C at Milwaukee airport sticks out. Much milder than the others. [Crossposted] While minimums of -30 C are not too uncommon in the lower 48 States during winter, MAX temperatures of -30 C are very rare. But next Tuesday and Wednesday, there seems to be a swath of them forecast in Northwest MN and Eastern ND, in places like Pembina, Grand Forks, and Bemidji. Now that is epic AF.
I also see some sub -40 lows very close to the US border, for example in Brandon MB (-43 F Tuesday night) which is south of 50N.
Edit: 46 below in Int'l Falls this morning, coldest since Jan 2011 I believe.

Buffalo had 17.2” (43 cm) of snow yesterday! Didn’t even know there was a winter storm, let alone one that strong...must have been lots of lake effect.
This week’s cold snap looks nice but not near record...much more interesting in the midwest.
Forecasts have Wednesday at 10/-2 f and Thursday at 9/1 f so hopefully it keeps getting upgraded (colder).
After that, it’s back to 40 so nice and variable.

Tornado Warning here, a storm with rotation spotted about 20 miles (32 km) south of me. yikes. Is it a cold front storm attached to a squall line? Or something more localized?

Tornado Warning here, a storm with rotation spotted about 20 miles (32 km) south of me. yikes. Is it a cold front storm attached to a squall line? Or something more localized? A bit of both, been quite stormy here the last two days. There's a stationary front to my south right now which is feeding a lot of moisture into the area. We got hit by the northern end of that squall line here, we got really heavy rain, high winds, and lightning/thunder for about 15-20 mins, raining moderately right now. Forecast for tonight is 52 F (11 C) and rain.

The forecast is now showing high 30s and rain next Saturday and Sunday. A week of arctic cold, possibly record cold, and then it turns to rain? Gross, I hope it doesn't rain.
