We had a nice freezing rain event today. All the trees are covered with ice and itβs really pretty. Crappy phone pictures donβt do it justice so I wonβt bother posting them.
It was raining at 29 (-2 C) earlier, very unusual.

Made it to 50F (10C) today, the high was supposed to be in the low 40βs.
64F (18C) yesterday, the absence of wind made it feel like 70βs.

Set a new daily record warmest min yesterday with a low of 66F, and another warmest min record will likely be set today...
Got up to 78F today. Pretty humid and damp lately; DP has been staying in the 60's.
Front coming tomorrow which should bring a brief cool down. Highs in upper 40's forecast Friday and Saturday.

There appeared to be a very thin layer, though it was not significant at all. There was plenty of steam coming off of cars, buildings, etc., though, as there always is at those temperatures. Fucken! Does your car even start? -42.5C I expect pics and warm beer being thrown in the air... a case would be chillled in like 2 minutes, right? Most vehicles seem to work fine, though I guess some older and/or more run-down ones could have issues. You do have to plug in your car if you leave it outside for extended periods of time at those temperatures, though. Pretty much every long-term outdoor parking stall here (at workplaces, apartments, etc) has an electrical plug-in for just that reason. Morningrise Seems like it's turning out to be a stupendous winter season for the praries. Exactly a week ago Winnipeg airport (YWG) also recorded its coldest temp since 2007, -39.9 C. Yeah it's been a pretty spectacular cold-snap. I wasn't looking forward to having 2+ weeks in the -20s and -30s this late into the winter, but these historic temperatures have sure made it much more exciting and appreciable for me. That's the main problem with midwestern USA and the Canadian Prairies. The winter averages don't look that bad, especially when you account for the much stronger sun compared to here. Medicine hat and Lethbridge look like pretty decent climates - on paper - but what you don't see is how windy it is there, and unlike here where there's never any wind when it's below -15 or -20'C, there can be windspeeds beating our normal annual max, even when it's -30'C. Yeah, the wind is brutal, I don't like it at all. Southern Alberta especially can get ridiculously windy. Though I gotta say these last couple of days really did surprise me in terms of how much less intense the extreme cold felt when it was windless, it was a pleasant surprise.

High was 72Β°F (22Β°C) yesterday. Impressive considering the sun never really came out for more than a few minutes.
Today is forecast to stay below freezing.

Awesome weather today!
Yesterday warmed up gradually throughout the day and at 9 PM it was 41 (5 C). Then a sudden warm front came through and 2 hours later it was 55 (13 C).
Today reached 60 (16 C) at 2 AM. Not very often itβs 60 f at 2 in the morning in early February!
Then a cold front quickly followed and just 5 hours later it was 32 (0 C). Thatβs a 28 f drop in 5 hours!
Itβs also been very windy today with sustained winds over 30 mph all day and gusts regularly over 50 mph.
The peak gust was 59 mph, the windiest since January 1st.
Today was the 5th day this month over 55 and the 2nd reaching 60.
Going to be another high diurnal, hoping for a 40 f range...
Rochesterβs climate has lots of things wrong with it but I do love being in a place where this occurs.

Yesterday's daily high recorded 15.0Β°C and today's high barely reached -5.6Β°C, what a contrast! I don't know where to find data to compare the biggest difference between the previous day or next day in daily highs but I'm sure it doesn't happen in every year.

SeaTac just recorded 6.4" of snow yesterday. I hate this snowpocalypse... A bunch of snow before the previous snow melted and followed by more snow next week is just annoying and really shuts down the city. A way to cancel stuff I want to do.

While the last month here has been rather frigid, southernmost Sweden has been average to above average. Falsterbo: Utklippan hasn't even gone below -2.2'C this season. Falsterbo had 1cm of snow one day and Trelleborg hasn't had a single day with snowcover (at least at 7am) this winter.

sometimes synoptics further aloft that would hard to notice on the surface are responsible for strong mountain winds

Had a few ice pellets here last night with better amounts in north Louisiana. A winter weather advisory had been in effect for north Louisiana parishes. I guess that might be all the wintry precip we get this season...
Yesterday's high was 43F and got down to 33F last night. Forecast high of 47F today then warmer temps come back tomorrow.

Impressive cold in Montana past few days. Apparently there were reports as low as -50 F in the state. 41 below in Havre couple morning ago: w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KHVR.htmlNot too surprising as it's not so far from Saskatoon, but 300 miles south is still substantial.

We haven't gone below freezing in two days, so according to SMHI it's now spring.

I think elevation increases the severity of cold snaps in that region...so a cold air mass from Saskatchewan sliding down into Montana wouldn't moderate much. Which area fell to -50 F? That's awesome!

This morning Int'l Falls also fell to -38 F, who knows how many times that makes this season. Epic af.
