Yesterday finished at 60/18 (16/-8 C)!
The 42 f diurnal range is the 9th over 40 this decade and the highest since March 27, 2016.
The snowpack is all gone now, just piles or scattered patches in the shade.

Snow so far this season at SeaTac:
February 3: 1.0" (2.5 cm) February 4: 1.7" (4.3 cm) February 8: 6.4" (16.3 cm) February 9: 1.5" (3.8 cm) February 10: 3.5" (8.9 cm)
Total: 14.1" (35.8 cm)
Snow depth on February 10: 7" (18 cm)
I may enjoy a little snow for a change of scenery, but this is too much and it's getting annoying. More than double the annual average fell within a span of 8 days so far. Waiting for this mega cold snap to end for good.

We got several inches of snow today. There were 2.4โ (6 cm) as of 11 AM and more in the 4 hours since.
Now itโs freezing rain which Iโve decided I actually like. Itโs very light so itโs not unpleasant like rain and it leads to cool ice formations.
0.50โ (13 mm) of precipitation has fallen so far today.

Temps have been annoyingly stable the past 48 hours at just above freezing w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KIAD.htmlI would love to subtract those numbers by 30 F (16.7 C), we'd have a shit ton of snow by now....

Half of the month is over, and the mean temp is -1.0C so far, 3.3C above average. Let's see how it will turn out, and how March will turn out.

Highest temp of the year today and largest diurnal range as well, at 13.1/-1.5ยฐC (56/29ยฐF). The forecast looks March- or even April-like.
Larger diurnals today include Romorantin's 16.5/-6.0ยฐC (62/21ยฐF) extremes.

Well this is just a fucking legendary cold snap in Saskatoon right now! Halfway through February and our mean temperature for the month so far is -27.6C, a full 15C colder than average! It's also 10C colder than last February (which was already a fair bit below average), 12C colder than an average January, and 3C colder than February 1893 when we recorded our all-time record low of -50C. If this were the final monthly mean, it would be the coldest month of my lifetime in Saskatoon. Of course this will all change soon, as the second half of the month is forecast to be significantly milder than the first, so those averages will go up a fair bit. However the forecasts still show significantly below average temperatures so we will likely end up with an impressive final average. Another very noteworthy aspect to this cold snap is the current record high for the month, -10.6C, compared to an average high of -7.2C. So far neither Environment Canada's 7-day forecast nor The Weather Network's 14-day forecast show a single temperature above -12C, with the vast majority of days having highs between -15C and -20C, so it's completely possible we won't surpass -10C this month. If we don't surpass -10C this month, it would be (as far as I can tell) the second coldest monthly record high ever recorded in Saskatoon, surpassed only by January 1950's record high of -13.9C. A solid majority of winter months have record highs above freezing, and the vast majority of the sub-freezing record highs are only a degree or two below freezing. -10C would be absolutely ridiculous. The stability of this cold snap is unprecedented and very much to thank for all this, as we've had extremely monotonous temperatures and conditions this whole month with very little variability, and even the "warm up" that's coming up is a slow, steady, gradual one, apparently not prone to the typical extreme temperature swings of the prairies. Personally, I'm hoping it all holds out and we get some impressive stats this month. It's been this cold for this long and none of the forecasts are showing typical February weather anytime this month, so we may as well get a truly historic month of weather out of all this
