While it's nothing compared with what the prairies are seeing, it's been a fairly cold month in Vancouver.
First half of Feb has averaged -1C which is pretty impressive.

Oskarshamn recorded 14.8'C today. Record is 16.5'C. At least two stations in Southern Sweden broke February records: Kalmar airport and Öland's northern edge at 13.6 and 12.9... Although their respective February records are 15.6 and 13.0 respectively... Don't know why SMHI is saying they're unknown temperatures.

Epic cold in Montana.
Cut Bank, MT is at an incredible 29.2 f below average through 15 days!
Fort Benton, MT had a 60/-4 f day on February 3rd. Yes, that’s a 64 f diurnal range! The 4th had a high of -3 f, a full 63 f colder than the previous day.
Opheim, MT hit -50 f earlier this month and has an average high of just 0.0 through 14 days.
Awesome cold out there, Rochester could never dream of such anomalies,

Two independent PWS's close to eachother in the northern part of Gotland island recorded 14.7 and 14.3 which is incredibly impressive for an island! Fårö's official station, a small islet nearby, more coastal, recorded 13.0'C.

Quite a bit of rainfall coming next week for inland parts of the Southeast. 10+ inches forecast right now for northeast Alabama! Looks like there will be stalled front with strong SE ridge.

Some stats for February until the 16th:
Lund: 5.5/1.5 Karlskrona: 4.6/1.1 Oskarshamn: 5.2/-0.6 Brämön 62°N: 1.1/-4.5 Umeå airport: -3.0/-13.3
A couple degrees below average in Umeå, about three degrees above average in southern Sweden. Forecast keeps looking like an average March forecast in southern Sweden. May well end up a 7/2 February in Lund and southernmost Sweden. Umeå will probably end up above average by the end of the month.

Where's the spring discussion thread? Rekdal definitely has entered spring. Rekdal is also too warm in March to have a winter backlash. It's possible but highly unlikely. The coldest March it has recorded (since 2009) was 3.0/-2.2

Been an epicly cold month in Grande Prairie, AB. Look at the 4th! It hadn't gotten above -15.9 C all month until yesterday! Insane. To give you an idea, February normally averages -4.8/-16.4 there, so up until yesterday the temperature had barely eclipsed the average low for the month!

Remarkable string of high diurnals lately. The sand-soiled Sologne region south of Orleans does well in this regard, especially in spring and fall. Here's Romorantin (the colored figures are anomalies):

Already about 95% sure I'm going to take off from work tomorrow due to snow. Bcause the roads won't work or because you're unchristian enough to abandon your workplace because of your own selfish will?
