Got to 46 (8 C) both today and yesterday.
NWS says 59 (15 C) for a High tomorrow, sadly itโll be accompanied by heavy rain. The warmth and variability are interesting at least.
Back down to the low-mid 30s on Saturday where itโll stay for awhile. Iโm really hoping for snow before Christmas but itโs not looking promising for anything more than flurries.

We're about to get a bunch of freezing rain and high winds tonight, roads should be lovely tomorrow morning. The freezing rain is supposed turn to regular showers tomorrow morning and then become snow in the afternoon.
Not a fan of this sort of winter weather, glad it's a rare occurrence out here.

really high precipitable water temperatures below Mt. Washington has warmed up, no freezing rain. 80 mph wind low 40s bit colder in the morning not wintry dewpoints or temperatures, but warm dews are unusual than warm temperatures

Fucking fizzer here today. NWS said 61, instead it only got to 57 (14 C) while plenty of places east or south like Syracuse, Albany, Ithaca, even Binghamton, etc. all got into the 60s. Pretty much only far northern ny and the far Western part had cooler highs The cold front came through at fucking noon and of course it rained all morning and itโs raining now. There was even supposed to be thunder this evening but of course now thatโs removed from the forecast too.

cold front bringing dry air, only flurries on the mountains The area of low pressure that has brought all the warm weather and heavy rain will be moving off to the North, passing just to the west of New Hampshire. Temperatures have already started to slowly cool and we expect that to continue through the day. Temperatures will fall back below freezing early Saturday morning on the summit, with the freezing line slowly descending. A cold front passes through around mid-day that will cause the temperatures to fall at a much quicker pace as well as increasing winds. Precipitation this morning has been all rain so far but we are expecting a transition to snow early this morning. Once the cold front moves through, dry air will move in limiting precipitation to some upslope snow showers. The dry air starts to mix in at summit level tonight with the snow coming to an end and the summits clearing from the clouds. Sunday will have calming winds and sunny conditions early on, but high clouds move in later in the day. The high clouds will get thicker and lower Sunday night but are not expected to make it down to summit level. A weak disturbance could bring a chance of some snow showers on Monday.Mount Washington's forecast www.mountwashington.org/experience-the-weather/higher-summit-forecast.aspx

I wouldn't mind some 15-20C rain even. This 1C-9C rain can get fucked though. How are you coping with this winter so far? It's not looking very promising.

Interesting map of temperature anomalies for northern Europe and Russia for Christmas Eve from Russian weather service. Some places in Siberia heavily below average, central Europe as always above average.

New record low for the winter this morning with -30.1C in Sodankylรค Tรคhtelรค. Sodankylรค is a cool place because it's exactly at the latitude where polar night begins. They get four days of it.

Mt. Washington still has a bit of snow: rainstorm decreased the snow pack from 18 inches to 2 inches. Down in the valley at Pinkham Notch it went down from 12 inches to 7 inches, wonder why? Rainfall amounts weren't higher at the summit (3.5" at the notch, 2.94" at the summit), temperature inversion at the first part of the storm meant warmer temperatures on the mountain. Whitefield just outside the mountains only one inch, so the effect of the mountains increasing precipitation is more from being in the mountains rather than high up. I wouldn't mind some 15-20C rain even. This 1C-9C rain can get fucked though. How are you coping with this winter so far? It's not looking very promising. I don't like the 8-12C rain we occasionally get in a typical winter. Of course during years like this or 14-15 its more the norm; nevertheless it's horrible for the mountains and our subsequent summer water supply. This winter has been a hot heaping piece of shit so far.....with that said, I'm watching Boxing Day closely for a surprise 5-10cm snowfall. NAM hinting at something. Could be followed by a modified blast with 850mb temps hovering near -10C. Given the way this winter has played out so far though, I expect all the cold air to slide east - as usual. Our January snow/arctic blast drought has to be broken at some point though - YVR has picked up 1cm in the past 6 combined and haven't dipped below -10C since 2004. perhaps this winter will end our curse? With years such as 1953-54 or 1968-69 as analogues, next January at least has some potential.
