Forecast looks very gay here. No lows below 66 F in the 7-day forecast. Early January looking noticeably cooler, though of course it's when I leave to DC. Lol.

Yesterday's highs. Easy to spot the areas which had fog all-day. Currently 0 Β°C and still foggy here to the east of Frankfurt. Same here. The absence of wind and feeble winter sun do wonders, today's high was 0.2Β°C after yesterday's 1.3Β°C. Frost is building up on north-facing roofs. We're under 570 dam heights and the 850 mb temps are nearing 10Β°C:

A strong line of t-storms in Louisiana this morning. A number of tornado warnings were issued though I was never under one, and not even a severe warning for me. Torrential rainfall as the line came thru my area; a flash flood warning was issued. My rainfall total since yesterday was 2.80". Storms remain stalled to the east in SE Louisiana and MS. Here's what it looked like right before the squall line came thru about 8:15 AM. <iframe width="21.480000000000018" height="16.360000000000014" style="position: absolute; width: 21.480000000000018px; height: 16.360000000000014px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 5px; top: 85px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_62725863" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="21.480000000000018" height="16.360000000000014" style="position: absolute; width: 21.48px; height: 16.36px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1006px; top: 85px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_48880724" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="21.480000000000018" height="16.360000000000014" style="position: absolute; width: 21.48px; height: 16.36px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 835px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_19253181" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="21.480000000000018" height="16.360000000000014" style="position: absolute; width: 21.48px; height: 16.36px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1006px; top: 835px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_66565810" scrolling="no"></iframe>

Cooler temps coming and additional rainfall this weekend through New Year's Eve. Latest runs of both the GFS and CMC showing wintry precip on Jan 2 for the northern half of LA! Wunderground had been showing a 30% chance of rain/snow here next Wed night! Snowfall thru Jan 6 per last GFS run. Wow, just saw where NWS Lake Charles is mentioning wintry precip possibility next Wednesday!

The lowest temp this month has been just 18 (-7.8 C). This is the 3rd warmest December record low after 1923 and 2015.
Lots of average, low diurnal days and no extreme cold. Month will finish 2-3 f above average.
Nothing is forecast to approach that temp, so the 18 f should hold.
After the first 2 weeks, a much more variable pattern has emerged. This has been a really great December, only thing lacking is interesting cold.
The only years where November had a colder temp than December were 1936, 1971, 1974, 2014 and 2018.

Looking extremely lame to finish off December, no lows below 69 F (21 C) in the forecast. This December had some interesting temperature swings, but the last week of December has had and will have extremely lame conditions.

another storm with a path from the southwest rather than up the coast. Brings more warmth to further west than east so the Adirondacks get more rain than Maine mountains at the same latitude
