I guess I'll start this off with a couple pictures from today's snowfall... It started out at -3C this morning and dropped to -7C by the afternoon, the wind was howling and it was snowing steadily all day long. The warmest high in the forecast is -7C, so this is here to stay for the season.   |

Now it is Dec 1, so we can start to use this thread, isn't it? Today in here was actually just a very boring transitional day between autumn and winter conditions. Briefly, it is foggy and cold-ish.   There is actually a quite funny inversion phenomenon at the moment, at the bottom of the valley the temperature is of about 2°C while up at 1500 m there are 6°C (it is not just one weather station, it seems generalised over the region). Usually in these days the fog tend to concentrate at low altitude while at higher altitude the weather tends to be sunny and warm. For example, this is a webcam picture of the ski plants more or less at 1500 m of altitude:  At the moment the most representative picture I can find of this phenomenon comes from a webcam facing the Po plain from here:  Update: the local online newspaper updates some analogous pictures also for my valley [1]:   (I'm posting so many pictures about it because I like this fog-sea effect a lot.  ) |
